Chambers: Every QB's dream is to throw the ball
NC State quarterback Jack Chambers addresses the media before the Wolfpack's Thursday night game against Virginia Tech.
how valuable was that week to kind of get more settled and just kind of feel like you're the guy now very valuable just being more comfortable this offense, uh, taking control and just making sure we're all on the same page helps getting the reps with the guys that you're gonna be out there with. Is it the same offense or you guys put in new wrinkles to kind of fit your skill set a little bit more? Um, it's the same offense, but we're gonna uh adid our strength. How much more do you feel like you've been able to grow personally as a quarterback over this last week and a half now at this point? Uh, I think tremendously just because like the responsibilities I have to do. Um, but I mean it's not really that big of a difference just because of the guys already got around me already have great leaders on this team. I just gotta step in and do my part. How much support are you getting from Devin right now? I'm getting a tremendous amount of support. He's there with me every day, uh, comes into the film room, helping us making sure we're ready to go and know what we're talking about? Just make sure we're prepared for the game. You decided to come here for the big, big, big time atmosphere here it is. Yeah, it's here. I mean, how do you like, how are you handling it? Oh, I think I'm handling it just fine. It's just, it's exactly what I expected. Um, just making sure the moments not too big, just make sure I'm going out there doing my job, You guys have kicked a lot of field goals since you were the startup, you haven't gotten in the end zone. Is there one particular thing that's kind of holding you guys back in the red zone or you know, what can you do to turn those three into sevens? I mean, we've had our opportunities, each game, it's just executing uh either maybe a throw was late or we missed read or we didn't get a block, it's just executing each play. And then from a timing standpoint, how much did you guys work on that this weekend? And how much did this week? And how much did the open date helped, you know, you guys build that timing better? Uh It's just getting more reps so it's definitely helped to get the timing better. Um But really kind of a quick turnaround, like we had to buy, but we're playing thursday, so it's like we still have the same amount of time to prepare for another saturday game, but I mean, just another week of getting reps, so I think it would definitely be fine, has been kind of overwhelming because it came at you pretty fast. Oh, it came out pretty fast, but like the guys around me, my coaches, they make sure like it's not too much that I'm ready to go and making sure like the plays and stuff that we understand what we're doing, you played a lot. How much did that help you prepare you for? What you're just, uh, just experience, just being able to know what to take um, from a defense and what to expect. We played a lot of bigger team. So it was always just going out there, doing my job, not expected to do too much Virginia. Tax got pretty decent defensive numbers. What do you see with those guys in their approach? I mean they got a good defense, uh, no doubt about it, but we're good offense and we're just ready to show people what we're made of, how much of you and MJ have been working together to, to make sure that both of you already given any situation we've been working together since the summer. So like we've been making sure we're ready to go every time I'm learning something new, he's learned something new and make sure we're on the same page. He's really a smart guy, so he's picking up the offense really quick and we're just making sure we're both ready to go. Uh, I mean I've always expected to have some kind of role. I didn't know what that role would be, but I always felt that I was going to be able to have an impact on this team, uh, definite situation was definitely unfortunate, but make sure you got to be ready to go next man up? What would you like to get into? Would you like to be a different business things that you think about? Uh I'm still thinking about that. I mean to this day, like I'm graduated twice and I'm still having uh decisions to make, so we'll see what happens in the future. I think most quarterbacks like the opportunity to throw downfield and cut loose every now and then. Oh yeah, definitely. You look forward to that. Like I want, I want to be able to do that here. That's that's ever cubes dream. Even the Q. B. S that are running a triple option, They still want to throw the ball. But I mean, uh, whatever it's called, we're gonna run it, we're gonna do the best our ability. Is it a relief to play at home, especially after dealing with that noise at the dome a few weeks ago. And if you ever experienced anything, I've never experienced anything like that, that stadium was so loud. Uh, I couldn't hear myself thinking for a little bit, but uh it's great to be back at home with the home fan base. I know they're gonna be out there, they're gonna be loud and we're excited to get back in front of our team. Okay guys, thank you guys
