Hurricanes
DeAngelo: The Boston media might be a little angry tonight, but that's ok.
Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo let his game do the talking tonight with a goal and two assists. He spoke to the media following a 5-1 win over Boston
yes, believe come out like this for this game. Um So you're wrong. Um I think We know how we got to play. I think like we've been talking about, I mean everyone has probably told you the same thing 50 times in a row now, penalties got us out of our game. Last game right? You take nine penalties, you're not gonna have success. We come back tonight. I mean, even the penalties we took could uh could go either way a little bit. They weren't, you know, I think we had three. Is that right? Three? But when we're on our game five on five, we're very confident that we're gonna, you know, come out on top and we were all over the park and we were above the puck so much that it was, it was just, that's the way you got to do it. I thought all four lines all 60 and then Ron was fantastic too. So in the power play Said it, I've said it 10 times already this series, whoever wins a special teams battle usually gonna win the game. And that's the way it's going all through the playoffs, not just our team. So it happens again tonight. How important do you think it was the score first and then the score on your first powerful. Yeah. Actually the power play was really good. Just good entries. It's not always going to be a perfect entry where you're dangling through a guy and making you know, play through a stick. I thought we just did a good job of keeping it simple. We're winning puck battles to get it back opportunities and the first one, they could have cleared it twice and they don't clear it, then we wind up getting a goal with good screens in front and stuff. So special teams are huge, we just gotta keep going. One game is not enough, right? One game is not enough to do, we've got to have this power play consistent every time we go out there, it's gonna be a threat. You know, boston is a threat. Every time they go out there we know that our penalty kill did a great job, but we've got to be a threat every time, Say it again, you're talking about that girl, I'm sorry, I was ranting about the power play. Yeah, huge the first goal of the game. I mean, we've actually, I don't know if we, I think we have that every time so far correct. So it's, you can build off in front of the home crowd, you know, the road crowds a little different, you get a big goal, it's good, but in front of the home crowd, I mean just start rolling and you get a power play now, it's too and you know, the momentum just swings on your side. Yeah, I mean you guys are trying to start it up a little more to me, I'm not very worried about it. I think the boston media might be a little angry tonight, but that's okay. What what was the difference in getting as many shots on net as you did tonight because you you dominated at five on five the rest of the series pretty much. But tonight it was. Yeah, I mean in my opinion I think you got a flood the net in the playoffs. You gotta get guys there, you just gotta keep making it tough on the goal. I mean if you get one dirty one in a game like this you could you could swing the game in your in your direction right? So you just gotta point pucks to the net. Sometimes there's there might even be a little bit of play there but if it's not 100% why not destroy that and see what happens. Maybe get a rebound, you might draw a penalty on the way to the net. So A lot of different things could happen. I thought close to 40 is kinda what we want. But you had a front row seat for Jacob slave and master class tonight. The place, the little stick place, he was making the little clear as to the safe areas. I mean that is that kind of him at the top of. Yeah I have a front row seat for that just about every night. It's uh it makes the game a lot easier on myself too. I have to worry about my job and my defending becomes a lot easier when you don't have to worry about the other side of the ice that usually I think they come to my side probably a little more right trying to attack me. But Slava was really good and he's chipping in big time offensively. The series two which is never a bad thing, Jarvis, Jarvis probably had a pretty good excuse to not be in front of the net tonight after after the shot he took last game. Yeah, let's just say about him that he's right back there, scored both goals within a stick length of of the net. Yeah, there's a word I like to use. I can't use it right now, but he's a he's a feisty little guy Man, he gets in there, he's all over the place. Even when guys try to hit him, he seems to come out of the pile with the puck, you know, he he takes contact, he actually initiates it half the time, I don't think he cares about getting hit. So he's been a really good player for his only 20 years old. He's having a big time playoff so far. So we need him to keep going. You know, not as little as him. AM I? No, we are, it's you need that. What do you think of really good? Yeah, I mean he made that same with marshall in the first period. I thought that was a huge save for the momentum of the team. But I mean he's been good the whole series in my opinion, obviously missed him in that uh in that game three there but round has been he's been really good. Sharp makes a lot of saves, not many rebounds at all. And it's huge for us. You guys don't care who's on the other side surprised. No, I'm never surprised. The guy comes back in the playoffs. McEvoy's he's a game or two real good player, eats up a lot of minutes for them guys. So you never want to see anybody get sick or hurt. So we want to see them at their best. It's good to have to line up what's gonna be the key for you guys for doing in Game six. Yeah, I mean like I said penalties were big things in games three and four. I don't think we played bad five and five at all. I think it will stay five on five majority. Those games could be could be a different outcome as is right now. But we're just gonna go in there and do what we did tonight. We got to dictate the pace of play. We gotta dictate five on five play and stay out of the box and we get a power play. We gotta we gotta make something happen especially on the road. Thank you guys
