DeAngelo: Try to get the first goal, get the crowd in to it early will be important
Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo spoke to the media Sunday following a 5-2 loss in New York. TDA looks ahead to Monday's Game 7
Yeah, I mean, two score a little more I guess. But I think we got to keep trying to play the same way we have all year and especially in Game five and go back to it. We can try to repeat a performance like that. I think we have a lot of success, similar pattern home and away and I mean we have a lot of confidence as a group. I think I would think I can speak for everybody when I say that, but play in front of the home crowd's great. Obviously it's gonna be a big boost for us in Game seven. But no, I don't think there's any extra confidence or anything. I think we're a confident group all along. You being involved have been targeting you. Yeah, I don't know if you don't get many guys that can target me. I'll tell you that for sure. But they can do what they want. It's a big game tomorrow. So we gotta just, it's not about me or anybody else, just about our team winning, Right? So we just gotta find a way to go out there and come out on the right side of things. Overreaction by them or maybe even overreaction by you. Yeah, I honestly don't even know that they had a penalty coming. So that's my fault. I shouldn't Shouldn't have done that there because we would have won a four on three right for 45 seconds. I thought it was just offsides to give you a little slick Whatever happens in there. I don't mind whatever they do, it's third go away. Right? So we'll probably do the same thing, correct. And does that give you guys, Yeah, we love playing in front of this crowd. I mean it's it's a really loud, but it's the largest building we've played in. Obviously it's much louder than what Msg was much lower than what boston was. So it's a it's a good energy boost for us. I think we gotta feed off of it and trying to get the first Kobe real important try to get the crowd into it early, but we'll just see how the game goes. Just gonna take it shift by shift and we'll see what happens the way you do three. Um, Their sticks everywhere, there's shots for 20, there's something about being at home, it makes that easier to do. Well, I think they're shots yesterday were only 25, you know, maybe 26, I forget a little too many great days. I think we gave up a little too much, couple of two on ones and stuff, man rushes and Some high danger chances that we didn't go up in game five. But no, I don't think that's a home and away thing. Obviously they feed off their crowd too right? You have a shift to get some momentum shifts and the crowd is going crazy and they get another shot, they just keep throwing pucks on net and stuff. So that happens or shifts like that, but we can't get into worried about it all. We just have to be home to win games. We gotta we gotta do it on both sides and I don't think that is the case. So we keep telling you guys that obviously look at the record, but eventually we could take care of business tomorrow. What would some on the road need it so much that way in terms of it was the lockdown first five saying there is some crowd, but there you are especially. Yeah, I don't know. It's a it's a good question. I can't I can't give you the answer to that. I guess we have been better at home. It's pretty it's pretty obvious this in record and the way the games have gone, but we're trying to bring the same game to the road, right? We're doing we're doing the same things. Guys are working just as hard as you're working at home on the road. They're you know, they're making the same reeds, they're trying to do, you know, everyone's trying to do the right thing. So I guess it just hasn't hasn't gone that way for us on the road. I think your side of it talked about too much. I mean they haven't won a game on the road series either and I think only one throughout it's just that maybe your expected to be the better team in this series a little bit and that's why Yeah, I mean we're talking a lot about it, but we're home tomorrow. So that's a good thing. Right? So I think that's where I'll leave it at really. It's just, It's one game, it's a game seven. We got a home ice, we got the best fans that in the league. So we're going to be, we'll be excited, we'll be ready to go. And I don't think after the game, we were worried about if it was home or the rover, just looking to win the game, right? Run talk to him at all and how ross has been great. I mean it happens right, if I'm sure he'd like to have one of the goals back, but you know, some breakdowns to a little bit, right? We're giving them chances. There's there's still grade a chances and he's been really good for us. Got a ton of confidence in him. So I'm sure he'll bounce back tomorrow would be great. It's, I mean it's do or die. It's fun. Right? So I got the last game was my first game, seven of my career, even going back to junior days and stuff. So a lot of fun. A lot of, a lot of emotion goes anyway. I mean, you have jitters from the from the day before to the morning and you know, it's your season's on the line, right? So it's a it's a lot of fun it takes a takes a lot of character from the team to go out there and play the right way and come out with a win like we did last time. So we just got to try to do the same thing we did series ago. All right. Thank you guys.
