Kane's rangers round two. It is now a set. So let's get us started here with a little series preview to help me do that. Let's bring in our canes, insider and 99 9 the fan host. Adam gold adam. Hello Tonight. Obviously we just watched a really good game seven between the pens and the rangers. Maybe the canes would have hoped that would have maybe went a little extra couple extra overtimes there. But nonetheless we've got the rangers on deck here. The canes took this regular season series 31 including that second to last game of the season to clinch the metro division. But what is the first thing that stands out to you when you look at this Kane's rangers matchup? Well rangers have a lot of offensive firepower. Uh There's some familiar from all sort of a familiar face uh and Adam Fox, but hurricanes have cornered the market on former rangers. Yes, for foss brady shea who had a good series season series against his former teammates, Brendan smith, Tony DeAngelo who was huge in that first game, a win at PNC Arena back in january where he was the first star. So there's some familiarity. These hurricanes couldn't beat the Rangers for like 10 years. Uh And then this year obviously did very well and when they met in the playoffs in the bubble Carolina swept new york three straight. So none of that matters at all. But it should be a fun series now when we look at this series and you look at the difference, the way the boston Bruins played and now the new york rangers, what is the biggest difference? You see rangers are way better in terms of offense, they're deeper. Uh there I think better skaters, they're obviously not as veteran laden in boston is a little bit slower, more physical a team. I think the rangers, it's going to be a skating series, which is maybe why Carolina played so well offensively against new york this year, even the game they lost and Carolina outplayed the rangers all four times. Even the game they lost, it might have been Carolina's best game. They had like 47 shots on Gergiev, the backup and lost at PNC arena to nothing. It was a one goal game Chris Kreider with the only goal and the Rangers then scored into an empty net. So uh it should be a fun series, should be a lot of offense or at least a lot of chances. We'll see how the goaltending holds up. Ah right into my next topic there. You mentioned former rangers, even antti Raanta was at one time a new york ranger boy, he really looked and he like that he could carry the load here. Obviously in that first round, we don't really have any concrete news on Freddie Andersen but what do we do down the stretch here if Freddy is able to go well Freddie Andersen comes back and healthy. I assume he's going to get back in net, that's why they signed him, they signed him to be the guy, but what you do know now is that antti Raanta can get you out of a series. So if Freddie comes back and he's not quite there, you can go right back. Toronto heck, I think the kid, I think the Russian kid can play too, he could get you out of the series. I think Carolina's goaltending is the most Uh discussed and least important part of all of this. You need great goaltending to win a Stanley Cup and ultimately they'll have to rely on somebody to do that. But I've always thought that when it comes to the hurricanes, it's about the 18 guys in front of them. If they play like they did against Boston in game seven of that series, which was really a defensive clinic, I think they'll be okay. Uh and the goaltenders will make the saves, they have to make. Burrata was great. He was what? He played in six games, won three, he was dynamite in this series against boston. Hey, even Colt Chekhov gotta win against the rangers this year. So again, any goalie can go up against anyone already. Adam, we don't know our schedule yet, but we know they're going to be playing here in the next couple of days. So look forward to talking to you over once we get these first few games under the way, have a good night.
