What a night for Pyotr Koko and the Hartford Whalers. What? Huh. That's right. The Carolina Hurricanes were dressed as Hartford Whalers for the eighth time in club history. They are 50 and three dressed in green and white or blue or whatever colors we talk about and, or gray one year. So maybe they should do it more. But it was all about Kheo last night. 34 saves in an overtime win over New Jersey. Sebastian Au with the game's only goal with about a minute 20 left in the extra period. But really Koko's heroics began Thursday in a 52 win over the Colorado avalanche. Kuc Chekov started the game after losing to Vancouver and allowing a weird third period goal. Kind of a lazy third period goal that unfortunately helped Carolina lose that game 32. He played a good first period against Colorado but allowed two late first period goals. One does Zach Parise to make a 31 after the Martin Nachez hat trick. Second fastest hattrick in Hurricanes history, but it was the second goal that really bothered Rod Bride Moore just a flip from the other side of center ice and it goes off Ko's glove and in clearly a lapse in concentration and you can't have those at this level because I think most people looked at the goal against Vancouver that lost the game as a lapse in concentration. So with that, Ron Polton went to anti Ranta on Thursday night, Ranta played great in the second period but got hurt. So Kko had to come back and he played very well in the third period, but nothing compared to what he did to the new Jersey Devils. 34 saves a lot of them spectacular, including two point blank saves in overtime that allow the Natures to aho goal to even happen. It was a tremendous way to finish. What was a very long stretch. They basically spent the entire month of January on home ice, obviously the first week of February as well around the all star break and the Hurricanes head out on the road to Dallas on Tuesday, Arizona on Friday, Vegas on Saturday. That's their three game road trip before coming home a week from tomorrow against the Chicago Blackhawks. But they go out on the road now thinking that they have their goaltending problem solved remains to be seen last night off the charts. Great. Now he's got to do it again and again and again. But man, that was fun stuff. My advice pack Whalers Gear.
