well. Normally, the NHL regular season would have already started by now. Instead, with everything delayed because of the pandemic, the draft What starts this Tuesday and free agency begins Friday. So how will the Hurricanes handle this week? Our Canes insider, Adam Gold, weighs in as we go inside the storm. Hurricanes picked number 13. Jake Bean was the 13th pick in 2016. That's great, except what you'll notice is that Jake Bean has not impacted the NHL roster. Yet. Five years after being drafted, he just now has a chance a legitimate chance to make the NHL club. He was named the H L defenseman of the year, so that's good. You can get a good player, but as for impacting the NHL team right away, not gonna happen. However, there is a goaltender that Carolina might be interested in. Jaroslav Ask are off from Russia, 19 year old, considered a top tier NHL goaltending prospect. That's great. Goaltender's, however, are notoriously difficult to project and the fact that at times Russian prospects can be difficult to sign. We'll see how this all plays out. As for free agency, hurricanes have Onley $3 million under the salary cap. Plus, there could be self imposed economic Chris Change based on the pandemic. With that said, there are players that could be moved in the offseason. Vincent Trocheck, Ryan, A single Nino Niederreiter, Brady Shea, even maybe a goaltender to free up some room under the salary cap, so we'll see how this all plays out.
