Carolina Hurricanes General manager Don, what thought was going to be a quiet day to begin free agency turned into an interesting day and it all started by not letting the one get away or in this case, a trio of guys, yes, fast, but he could have gotten some more money elsewhere. But he took a two year $4.8 million deal, which is massive for the keys. He's the quietest guy in the room but his game speaks volumes. Now, the Cannes also sticking with what works in net. He wants a returns on a one year deal worth $1.5 million. Boy, Rant went 19 3 and three last season with a 2.23 goals against. He's a solid backup option. So, you know what that meant though? They had to keep the other half of the tandem. Our guy Freddie Anderson signed to a two year extension worth 3.4 million a year. All three deals are team friendly that leaves plenty of space for the games to make a splash in free agency. And Pat Welter tells us that's exactly what they did. Casey, we all saw just how close the canes were last season. I mean, they made the Eastern conference final without Andre Veo. Now with him back healthy in the signings they made today, Carolina is in position to take that next step to quote, Don Waddell cap space is like gold. What we've done here is a really good job and it's a lot of credit to our whole staff is we manage our cap space very well. The front offices, careful manipulation of their contracts, put them in position to lend the biggest name on the free agent market. Defenseman Dmitry Orlov, I need to make a good decision for me and, you know, and I wanna play in a good team. So I think I did the right decision and I'm headed to be Carolina right now. Orloff's two year $15.5 million contract, ate a good chunk of that cap space, but they still had room to add some much needed grit the linesman shoving bunting off the ice. Toronto's Michael bunning known just as much for his goal scoring as his Antics. We wanted to add to our forward group. Uh you know, a player that brings lots of intangibles, you know, he could score, he hits, he's uh you know, feisty guy, these moves combined with the team friendly deals, they already ink with their own free agents. Signal a new era in Carolina. We used to chase players have to overpay players and, you know, we've become a destination place. Now, the big fish they still need to reel in is Sebastian Aho who has one year left on his contract. What else said? They had some great conversations with Ao's agent at the draft. He expects those to pick back up in the next couple days. Casey.
