Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal reacts to the wild finishes around the league while the Canes wait for the end of the Rangers and Devils series to see who their next opponent will be.
Get home ice all the way through as long as you guys keep on wanting and surviving. How does that feel? Does that do anything to shift the focus for you guys? No, it doesn't shift anything. Um, obviously, uh, it goes to show that any team, um, can find ways to win series. So if anything, it sharpens us a bit more and we get to be ready for anyone coming up here soon. It does give you a little kind of like, oh, oh, moment like, hey, you know, I mean, I guess it's human nature that, you know, hey, you know, I know you all think you could do it all along. Yeah, that's always been the mindset, but I've said it before. Every, every team that makes playoffs expects to win. So it's going to be a challenge at any moment in any series. So we're excited about the future challenge here soon and we'll find out soon enough who we're facing off against. What, what is this about? Yeah, but you are still, you know, one game in the first round, but there's still one games here in the second round. What does that say? About this. Yeah, obviously, um we got uh a deep group that is ready to win and do anything it takes to win. And, um I thought we had a lot of guys step up and play very well and, um, and a lot of key moments from different players throughout the whole series and it's what you need if you want to win any series at all and what you need, if you want to win it all. From a family perspective, obviously, they're coming to the game, really enjoy more time to come out being that you guys have that home ice advantage. But from a player perspective, what does that do for you guys knowing that you got extra time at home versus having to go on the road? And does that affect you at all? It's always nice to be at home. Obviously, we played well in front of our great fans here and it's definitely not a bad thing. So we're excited about the advantage of being here at home. It's what we worked hard for throughout the whole season and we'll try to use it to our advantage as best we can. What do you do now while you wait for game seven with the Rangers Devils, just stay focused, stay sharp and, and just practice hard and get ready for the challenge ahead. But, you know, obviously rest the things that need to be rested and, and, and like I said, just stay sharp practice and then get ready for the next show. You watch that game or do you kind of like? Yeah, I'll probably watch it and obviously we're playing one of those teams. So it's always nice to kind of keep an eye on how the team is doing it. And, but in the end, whoever we play is who we play and go from there when it happens.
