Estimates of the crowd quickly soared to 2000 plus a sea of bodies and beer cans that was not to be contained on campus, stopped traffic and stormed Hillsborough Street. Police had hoped to head this off, but they quickly accepted the inevitable. There were impromptu parades of cars, more bonfires and even an amateur high wire act. It is crazy.
