Carolina Hurricanes forward Paul Stastny reacts to the wild finishes around the league while the Canes wait for the end of the Rangers and Devils series to see who their next opponent will be.
Kind of like, oh, ok. You know, we could, I know you always think you can do it but, you know, there's a little, um, there, uh, no, I mean, I knew Florida is good. Like Florida's got a really good roster and, you know, their goal play good. They're as good as anyone. I mean, they were the President's Cup winners last year, so they're in the same boat as Boston was this year and this year it's almost like Florida was the more aggressive team, at least in game seven. Florida was more aggressive, you know, they played to win and, uh, Boston just seemed a little hesitant and that's, that's understandable because when you're that big of a favorite, everyone expects you to win and it just, there's more added pressure on that coming into this one here. Would you watch the game tonight? I'll watch like the first two periods and then I'll probably record it and watch it there tomorrow. Go to bed early with the kids too late for me. I'm used to the Pacific time zone where the games are on at four or five o'clock. So usually at 10, I shut it down but I'll watch it. No, it'll be a good game. But, yeah, the next morning I'll kind of fast forward through commercials and watch it in the morning. What do you say about this group here that the players that they have out who is not coming back? But you still manage to win games and win. It just kind of, I mean, Rod always preaches next man up, but he's done a good job of never using excuses. That's just how it is. Sometimes you miss your best players and you got to keep going and different guys get called up, different guys, step up. And I think on this team here, we've had, it seems like throughout the season, we've had stretches where one line plays really well, then another line carries our team, then another line, then another line and, you know, our goaltending, all three goals have been phenomenal for us. So that's kind of the back of our team and we can just feed off that. And for us, we just, we try to play our game no matter who's in, who's out our lineup and nothing changes. How nice is it to have a couple of days here while everyone else knew who you were playing in the next round is duking it out. Yeah, it's good. I think it's nice playing six. I mean, you want to win in four all the time, but then sometimes you have too big of a break. It's a little too much here. It's good because a couple of guys have, you know, bumps and bruises, little Knicks and they can have a couple of extra days off and then, you know, you want all the other teams, like my dad said, do you want to win in four? And you want to, every team to go in seven just because it's always fun to watch game seven. Hockey. But yeah, it's nice to have two days off and get back on the ice for two days where we have a game where it doesn't feel too long of a break, but it's a nice, well needed a break mentally and physically.
