Raanta: It's obviously a team effort to get the shutout
Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Antti Raanta pitched a 21-save shutout performance in a 2-0 win over the Rangers
postseason, these, these accolades kind of keep piling up for, you just give you more and more confidence as this continues to go off. Yeah, yeah, it's uh obviously usually when I get the shot out, it's a it's a team effort also and and you know, I didn't feel like I needed to do that many like huge saves or or like that, but I think our guys were making sure that there wasn't no no backdoor place or or you know, you just shots and and then you know, you know, obviously PK was huge for us today and and that last three minutes was huge also. So you know, the guys guys helped me a lot for sure. I know it's it's not a head to head battle with goalies, but you're playing on the other end. There's the guy who's a vezina finalist and a heart finalist and he's only given up three and you're out playing him. Does that matter? I mean like is that something you take pride in? Is that something you ever think about? You know, I think, I think it's, you know, it's a matchup like team versus team and then individuals against the individuals. So you know, obviously it's a it's a great battle. You know, it's it's always great to go against top goalies in the league and you know, you try to, you try to do your best and and you know, do what you can do and and hopefully get a win and, but yeah, it's we kind of knew when this series started that we're not gonna get any easy ones and and you know, we have to, we have to work to get our goals, so yeah, it's a it's a fun battle, but more, it's uh it's just concentrating on your own thing and and focusing on that, does that raise the pressure on you? I mean, your job is to stop the puck when it comes to you have to stop the puck and if you let in too many they're gonna win. But when, you know, going into a series, you're not gonna get many freebies, you're not going to your team. Isn't, does that raise your heightened, just give you a little heightened awareness I guess. Yeah, I think, I think that's pretty, pretty true, like I think that's kind of where you, well, you know that, hey, like, you know, it's it's not gonna that I can, I can start giving easy rebounds or easy, easy goals or like that obviously, you know, sometimes this happens, but obviously you try to be as prepared as you can go into the game and just making sure that every save is, you know, if there's a shot, you know, you try to make the save to the corner or like that and just try to battle till the end and and like that. So yeah, I think, I think you, you get a little bit more on your toes when when, you know that, you know, the other goal is is top top in the league, so yeah, for sure, it's probably a little bit on their toes, what? Mhm, Yeah, you know, that was, I think when, when I got, when I was in new york, obviously what hank was doing there, that was kind of eyes opening for me, you know, like he's been in there, he was 2015, that was probably his seventh or eighth year in the league, and you know, he was every year, he was one of the best goalies, and I was like, you know, this is the reason why he is the best goal, you know, he was always working, he was always trying to get better and like that, and, you know, obviously Benny in, in new york, you know, he's he's one of the best best in the league, you know, as a color coded and and as a human being, so it was, it was a lot of fun to work with him and, you know, get to get to know, obviously hanging like that, and you know, now now you see uh just jerking, he's, you know, he fights till the end, he's he's he moves unbelievably and, you know, he makes the save what he has to, and, you know, sometimes he makes those huge highlight real safe, so yeah, it's a it's obviously obviously probably something what, what comes from the new york letters, probably, you know, it's it's when, when you start playing more games, you start getting to the rhythm also and you know, you're not really think about too much what what's happening, you just go and play and you know, it almost feels like when the game starts, you're already ready to play and it's like sometimes when you're waiting for a couple of weeks to get the go to the next game, you your mind starts playing in your own games, so you're a little bit questioning yourself and like that, so now it's kind of just taking care of your body and on off days and and then getting ready for the game against. So, you know, I think playing every second day is kind of kind of nice and you know, you stay in the rhythm so there's not really, not much what, what I've changed, it's just, you know, now it's just more games, I will see, you know what cheers. Yeah, like I like I said, I think it was a complete team effort today, you know, getting fox steve defending really well PK was working and and you know, obviously the third period i it was it was really, really good, you know, kept them outside and and then, you know, got boxed out when we need it. So yeah, I think I think it was one of the best uh 60 minutes for sure in in in this uh in this playoffs. So you know, now we just have to keep keep doing the same thing and get to new york crowd. Yeah, it's a it's a lot of fun. Obviously these are the games, what do you, what do you always dream to play? And and you know, you always hope to get these games and and get good results and you know, now you now you're there and when you win, you know, the fans have been unbelievable here. So it's, you know, going to the games and and the fans are yelling and you know, making noise and you know, during the game, they give us a lot of energy when when we're in town or or killing the penalties or something like that. So yeah, it's it's special and you know, something that you're probably never going to forget, so you just try to enjoy every second of it and then, you know, when you, when you get older you you're probably gonna remember these things for sure, awesome. Thank you.
