Jaccob Slavin speaks to the media after a series clinching 3-2 OT win over the Devils.
Yeah, it was just a top to bottom. Just a consistent game. Freddie backs stopped us. Just some huge saves, especially down in the third on that many break away. But no, I mean, everyone contributed, everyone played hard and it's nice to get the win. It looked like it was a very exciting game just from our perspective. But, you know, you guys were in the middle of it, man. So what was it like playing in a game like that? It's so much fun. I mean, that's, that's the playoffs. I mean, here at P N C are unbelievable. So, I mean, it's so much fun that that's one for the memories every time they were able to take the lead. You guys had an answer every single time. So what was it that was going right for you guys to respond every time like that? I think we were just sticking to a game. I mean, you can, there can be ebbs and flows within the game, but I mean, we stuck to our game the whole time getting pucks working on, getting pucks to the net, whatever. And so yeah, we just stayed on, it stayed on, it, stayed on it and got the win in the end. Jacob, you've been here a while. You guys finally get over the hunt to get to the Eastern conference finals. It's awesome. It's awesome. Work's not done yet though. We got a lot of work ahead of us. Four games. You guys really did a good job of shutting down the top skill guys in New Jersey. What was so important to do that? Yeah, I mean, honestly, it's a five guy effort when they're out on the ice though. I mean, the forwards have to be getting back for us as defenseman defense, we got to have gaps and so just stay on, stay on them and just taking away their time and space. I know it's a cliche but when you got top top end go like that, you, you got to take away their time and space, they're going to make you pay. What are some of the emotions and thoughts you have going through the handshake line hard fought series to send you? I mean, you're just excited, obviously, you're excited, but you know, the work is not done. Obviously, it's, you still got eight more wins to go. And so, I mean, it's always emotional time to end the series, but excited for the next one. A lot of those end of period goals being big momentum, swingers. Do you think burns was that for you guys given the way you guys came out. Yeah, for sure. I mean, any time, any time you can tie it up is going to give you some momentum, but especially going into the end of the period coming out in the third, we knew we still had our best hockey to play. I think we showed that in the third there and carried it in overtime. But yeah, those are huge momentum builders for us. Talk a lot about the four check and how confident you are in that, how does that confidence in your offense carry you through a game like this? Yeah, I mean, our four checks has been our bread and butter all year. We got forwards that work really hard and when we don't do it that way you get the results of game three there. And so we knew we had to say to it, let our forwards continue to work and grind and like I said, everyone contributed. So it's huge for our offense there to continue to put them in. The defense has been a big part of your offense all year. You get two goals from defense today. Just do you feel like with the guys have to do more from back there? Just keep doing? No, we just keep doing what we're doing. I mean, you just, I mean, we like to get pucks to the net, that's part of our system. And so we continue to do that and got a lucky bounce on that first. One and then obviously burns, he knows how to shoot the puck pretty well. And so, uh yeah, we just continue to do that, but we know that we have to take care of our end first. And when we're playing good, good defense, you're going to have more opportunities in the offensive. What do you think of the poetic justice of somebody like fos getting the game winner after missing that one early in the game? Yeah, that's awesome. That's awesome for him. And I know he was shaking his head in that first period, but then get it in the end is awesome for him. Florida or Toronto matters. You care. But just, yeah, yeah. Both teams will be a tough challenge and we'll wait and see.
