Comments from former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton are sparking controversy on social media.
On the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Newton said he "knew what a woman was" from growing up in a home with his father, mother and grandmother.
"I knew what a woman was. Not a bad [expletive,]" said Newton.
Newton said he didn't use the obscenity to degrade woman but to dismiss the "the aesthetic of what [women] deem is a boss chick."
"A woman for me is handling your own but knowing how to cater to a man's needs," said Newton. "I think a lot of times when you get that aesthetic of 'I'm a boss [expletive] ... no baby. But you can't cook. You don't know when to be quiet. You don't know how to allow a man lead."
Newton is currently an unrestricted free agent. Following Panthers' quarterback Sam Darnold's injury, Newton played eight games in 2021.
