Olympian Claire Curzan did not make it to the finals in the 100-meter butterfly swim at the Tokyo Games.
Curzan swam in the semifinals with a time of 57.42 seconds, giving her a tenth-place finish.
Curzan, who calls Cary home and is a rising senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School, finished in 57.49 seconds in the qualifying meet.
Cardinal Gibbons hosted a watch party for Curzan at its football stadium, starting at 8 p.m.
In June, Curzan finished second in the 100-meter butterfly at the U.S. Olympic Trials. The top two finishers in the race punched a ticket to Tokyo.
In three seasons at Cardinal Gibbons, Curzan has won six state championships and has been named the MVP of the championship meet twice. She was named Girls Swimmer of the Year at the HighSchoolOT Honors on Thursday night.
