Former UNC guard Caleb Love declares for 2024 NBA Draft, will maintain college eligibility

Posted April 16, 2024 11:24 p.m. EDT

Former North Carolina guard Caleb Love announced Tuesday he is entering the 2024 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility.

Love, who played the 2023-24 season for the Arizona Wildcats, made the announcement in a post to the social media platform X.

"I would like to give a heartfelt thank you to coach Tommy Lloyd and the entire U of A coaching staff for embracing me and giving me this remarkable opportunity to become a Wildcat," Love wrote. "I'm forever grateful!

"To my teammates, I'm thankful we were on this journey together. You are all my brothers for life."

If Love decided to return to college basketball for the 2024-25 campaign, he would have one season of eligibility left.

April 27 marks the deadline for early entrants to the 2024 NBA Draft. If an early entrant wants to withdraw from the 2024 NBA Draft, he has until 5 p.m. ET Sunday, June 16 to do so.

The 2024 NBA Draft is set for June 26-27.

In the 2023-24 season, Love started all 36 games for Arizona, averaging a career-high 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 41.3% from the field and 33.2% from 3-point range.

Love was named a semifinalist for the Naismith Trophy.

From 2021-2023, Love played in 101 games for the North Carolina Tar Heels, starting 96 of them. He averaged 14.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game at UNC.

Love is known for his key 3-pointer to help North Carolina seal a win late in the 2022 Final Four game against rival Duke. It was Mike Krzyzewski's final game coaching the Blue Devils.
