Tucson, Ariz. — Former North Carolina Tar Heels guard Caleb Love has joined the Arizona Wildcats men’s basketball team as a transfer, head coach Tommy Lloyd announced Tuesday.
Love, who has two years of college eligibility remaining, made the announcement Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
"Caleb is a tremendously talented guard who has significant experience playing college basketball at a high level," Lloyd said in a news release. "We look forward to helping Caleb grow his game at Arizona.”
Love joins an Arizona backcourt that features Pelle Larsson, Kylan Boswell and Alabama transfer Jaden Bradley.
Love initially committed to Michigan. However, he rescinded his commitment due to an admissions issue related to credits transferring.
Love was a starter for the Tar Heels during the past three seasons. He averaged 16.7 points per game as a junior. However, he often endured criticism from fans as the Tar Heels missed the NCAA Tournament. The 6-foot-4 junior shot 29.9% from 3-point range in the 2022-23 season.
On Nov. 10, 2023, Arizona is due to play at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham when the Wildcats travel to Duke.
Love is known for his key 3-pointer and late free throws to help North Carolina defeat Duke in the 2022 Final Four in legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s final game coaching.
