Is there some conspiracy by the NHL to keep the small TV markets out of the playoffs? The goal was good last night, but after seven minutes the NHL decided to disallow it. What the...? A picture is worth a thousand goals, I mean words...

http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/110369/versus_goal_medium.jpgBy the way, after analyzing the picture I have determined the camera is slightly behind the goal post. The goal post is directly over the red line. I assume it is slightly behind the post so one can better see the red line on the ice. However, the positioning of the camera is not the best to make the scoring call (especially for pucks that are airborne). If the camera was moved directly over the goal post, the angle looking down at the line would be zero degrees with respect to the post and the red line. Therefore, imagine if the angle of the picture were rotated directly above the post. You would see more white ice between the puck and red line since the puck, at that point, was in the air. Yeah, conspiracy.

Nice distraction BDF, but I think the K recruit being charged with breaking and entering is way more interesting.

This is a Canes forum, but since you brought it up...I never wanted Wall to play at Duke. My insiders told me he did not have the grades anyway.

Do you have any interesting points or commentary?

You don't think the minor issue of grades would prevent him from playing at dook, do you? If he accepts, K will find a way. (Sean Dockery?)

    GOAL!!!!!

BTW - Wall is a dummy for doing what he did even if he didn't "break" in to enter and if nothing was taken. At mimimum it is a trespassing charge and if he gets in the first offenders program in Wake County he will most likely get a minimum of 75 hours of community service. Not a very smart decision but we all make mistakes and let's hope he learned from this one, he is an outstanding athlete and who cares where he goes to play ball?

Personally, I think it was a goal. However, I don't think the video was so clear that you could overturn a no goal call. Had the official called it a goal, I think that too would have been upheld. Fortunately, the Canes didn't need that goal. Now, they need to win Game 3 and really put the pressure on Boston to not go down 3-1.

I have to agree with Kenny. Toronto didn't have enough to overturn the no goal call. I don't know the exact position of Raleigh-Durham in the TV markets but it's not considered a small market.

    It's the top 30 U.S. markets. Like 27th I think

I don't agree with the "Conspiracy Theory", but I do agree that they couldn't over-turn the original call because the evidence wasn't "indisputable". But IT WAS A FREAKIN' GOAL! I saw it in slo-mo, forward and reverse, from all the angles they showed while it was being reviewed. Then I saw it on Youtube. It was a goal and the Canes were robbed, but thankfully, it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

It was a goal. Period. Nothing else matters. A win is a win. But, if they do this in a crucial game--then; we have some problems!

it was going to go whichever way they called it on the ice... to say that it was 100% for sure a goal is hard to say.
