Apologies for this lengthy post, but here goes... I've been collecting my thoughts over the course of this series, especially as it became more & more evident that our beloved Canes just weren't going to be able to overcome this extremely talented Pens team.

As much as it hurts to state the obvious, the Pens were clearly the superior club in this dreadful series. There's no doubt that being swept is a hard pill to swallow. However, our Canes will be back not only for next season but for many subsequent seasons to follow. They're a scrappy team with A TON of heart & character. Caniacs need to keep matters in perspective... THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY SETBACK. After a few weeks of much needed healing and R & R, this team will come together again with even more focus. ferocity, and determination toward achieving their ultimate goal. Dynasties don't happen overnight... It takes years of amazing sacrifice, unparalleled effort, and depth of character. This team has all of those qualities in abundance! As much as losing this series stings right now, know this - As long as we support our Canes with buying out all of the season tickets & all of the ticket mini packs, the future for this team is shining brightly!

LET'S SELL OUT EVERY GAME AT THE RBC NEXT SEASON!!!

AND LET'S MAKE OUR LOUD, BOISTEROUS PRESENCE KNOWN AT EVERY AWAY GAME!!

Finally, let's show everyone out there that Canes fans are the absolute class of the NHL. Give them credit where credit is due. So, in the spirit of true sportsmanship - hearty congrats go out to the Pens.[OUCH!] It's not going to be easy to do, but I'll have to stay true to the Eastern Conference and pull for the Pens - at least it'll remove some of this sense of loss & some of this overwhelming sting if the Canes (sadly) bowed down tonight to the ultimate Stanley Cup Champions.

Besides, the Cup Finals versus the Red Wings will be the NHL at it's very best... unbelievably fun & exciting to watch!

Well, our season has come to an end, but what a season it's been. Thank you Canes for a magical season, thank you for all your hard work and grit. Thank you also to all the Caniacs who cheered their hearts out and gave us "more cow bell" - you make hockey fun. To be playing hockey on May 26th is pretty darn good and I'm proud of our team - OUR CANES!!!
