North Carolina Tar Heels guard Leaky Black is coming back for a fifth season.
On Friday afternoon, Black posted a two-minute, nine-second video to his Twitter account.
“Being a Tar Heel will provide you with some of the best moments in your life,” Black said in the video. "You will get to see how proud your parents are when you get that University of North Carolina diploma with your name on it, a feeling you will remember for the rest of your life."
Black styled the video as a "letter to his freshman self."
The reason Black is allowed to play a fifth season is because every NCAA athlete who was enrolled during the 2020-21 COVID-19 season has been granted an extra season of eligibility.
"Don't ask how it's possible. You wouldn't believe me if I told you," Black told his freshman self.
Black played 38 games in the 2021-22 season, averaging 29.7 minutes per game while shooting 46.6% from the floor. This past season, Black averaged 4.9 points per game, 2.7 assists per game and 4.3 rebounds per game.
In the 2021-2022 season, Black was selected to the ACC's All-Defensive team.
Friday's news comes after Armando Bacot announced on Wednesday he is also returning to North Carolina for the 2022-23 season.
The Tar Heels are still awaiting decisions from guards Caleb Love and RJ Davis.
In 2022-23, North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis will enter his second season as the team's head coach. The Tar Heels will look to build off their national championship game appearance, in which they lost to the Kansas Jayhawks.
