NC State's top running back to redshirt, removed from roster

NC State starting running back Jordan Houston will redshirt this season and has left the team, the football program announced Thursday.
Houston, a senior with 19 career starts, is second on the team with 96 rushing yards in three games, trailing only quarterback Brennan Armstrong (161 rushing yards). Houston's 25 rushing attempts are second only to Armstrong.
Houston is no longer listed on the team's roster on its website. He was listed as the co-starter for Friday night's game at Virginia when the team's depth chart was released Monday.
"RB Jordan Houston will redshirt the season. He will finish academically this fall and graduate. We wish him all the best," the program announced on social media.
By redshirting this season, Houston will retain one year of eligibility and can transfer for a final season. He played in four seasons previously, but one was the COVID season of 2020.
Houston had 324 carries for 1,392 yards and six touchdowns along with 60 receptions for 398 yards and one touchdown in his NC State career, which began in 2019.
Sophomore Michael Allen, juniors Delbert Mimms III and Demarcus Jones II and freshman Kendrick Raphael were also included on the depth chart.
Raphael has 19 carries for 92 yards, Allen has 11 carries for 81 yards and Mimms has 19 carries for 64 yards on the season. Mimms also has three rushing touchdowns, tied with Armstrong for the team lead.
