There are plenty of coaches out there that are better assistants than head coaches look all over the sports world you see it every day.

She spilled two "whatever's" in the same ignorant rant. You would think people in these types of positions would be able to conduct themselves in a more professional manner.

Guys, don't get stirred up by what a Carolina fan has to say. Can you imagine what the Dean Dome would look like if they had to live through the last 20 years we have?

I was at the ACC Tournament final a few weeks ago and you should have seen the "loyal" Tarhead fans streaming for the exits with 3-4 minutes left in the beat down Duke gave them.

It was so bad, I thought I was at a UNC football game!!!! UNC has the best fans in the world....as long as they're winning. Whatever!

you are a good fan if you sat through the whole tournament after NC State got eliminated on the first day.....that must suck

We havent had a last 20 years like NC State.......so you can imagine all you want!

I will leave a beatdown with 3-4 minutes to go in a heartbeat! I dont really care to see the other team and their fans celebrate! I guees its better than not showing up in Raleigh!

Best fans as long as we are winning? Well I guess its hard not to be a fan especially the basketball team since 38 of the last 42 seasons have been winning seasons! Jealous much?

Carolina fans give up on their team if they have a bad half. Carolina didn't even have basketball fans at the beginning of this last season. It wasn't until they stepped it up in ACC play that all of the sudden they had fans again.

Wrong. You made that up. I went to every game and the fans were there. The Kentucky game was as wild as it gets. For lesser games maybe not as many people show up. But you know what? This recession hit Tar Heel fans too and the tickets are like $50-$60 apiece. Fans come from all over the state to these games and sometimes a televised 9pm game against Long Beach St on a school night keeps people from making the cross-state commute.
    Sometimes real life takes over.
All that being said, I believe UNC had higher game attendance for basketball and football than NCSU.

Since we're talking about UNC (yet again, on The Wolves Den; unbelievable), and since every UNC fan on here has such a strong opinion about NCSU, and their AD, and their Head Coach, and their Assistant Coaches, and the "prospective" Head Coach candidates, and their fans, and blah-blah-freakin'-blah, thought I'd do a little research, since we're reading some strong baby-blue opinions about NCSU's first "new" Assistant Coach:

Steve Robinson was the head coach at Tulsa for two seasons (1995-96 & 1996-97, presumably), where he was 46-18 (22-8 & 24-10, respectively. He then took over at Florida State (ACC school), where he coached for five seasons (1997-98 to 2001-02). His best season overall (and only winning season) was 1997-98, 18-14 overall, 6-10 ACC, made NCAA 2nd round. After that, he had four straight losing seasons, best of those 4 was 13-17 in 1998-99, best ACC record (twice) was 6-10, best ACC finish was 7th, and his overall ACC record was 25-55 (WOW! Exactly the same as Sidney Lowe!)

My point to all this is: a fantastic assistant coach at a great school wasn't too terribly successful as a head coach; so what? Where's the crime. He was fortunate enough to be on Roy Williams' staff at Kansas, and followed him to UNC. Think he's done alright for himself. Why so quick to criticize and belittle Coach Early before NCSU has even practiced under Coach Gottfried and his staff? Why so angry and hateful, UNC fan? Just let it (and us) go - we don't matter, remember?

Nice! It's easy for anyone to anonymously get on a computer and criticize someone for no reason. Your post just helps keeps things in perspective that no one fanbase has all the marbles (or insight/wisdom).

    Good post.

Just like Roy cussing fans out? That was VERY professional. Or how aboput Coach K shouting MF and GD into the cameras while coaching. Or Bobby Knight throwing chairs and hitting players, as has his son. Everyone blows a gasket sometimes.....including UNC.

Early went 60-92 in a town newly ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. How hard do you think it was to recruit players to an area people were moving out of by the thousands. And by the way, he also won Coach of the year in his conference while there.

I'm not a hater of UNC or Duke but I really get tired of ignorant people that just say sh*t to p*ss people off. Evidence of a small mind and low self-esteem.

If they can't get up to my level, they try to bring me down to theirs. Works sometimes, too - just ask deuxkneez, Hanzel, and several others who don't seem to respond to me when I go all ... oh, the heck with it, Debbie Yow on 'em.
