Nice...we are getting a lesson on what a "Championship" is from somebody that thinks UNC is the ACC Champion this year because they had the best regular season record.Not really. Like I said, count it whichever way you want, UNC still leads State by a mile (or, better yet, several miles). I was just going by the wikipedia page, which lists team championships, not individual ones. Why would I intentionally disregard 51 UNC NCAA individual championships to make a point about how great we are, doesn't that seem counterproductive?

— Posted by DemanI definitely don't believe in qualifying Championships either "real" or "not real" depending rather or not they're team or individual sports. They're all difficult accomplishments.
But I also don't buy into the idea that a fan honestly believes that their athletic program is superior based upon the records/championships of sports other than football/basketball/(and for arguments sake)baseball . That seems like you're grasping at straws. -

"hahah stoooopid moo u. all they can get is 2 star recruits" so since wilson was only a 2 star, in your heels logic he was bad but we should be fine ;) glennon was the 3rd best qb recruit coming out of highschool so in your logic, he is going to rip your boys defense apart this year. also remember when we beat you obriens first year at state it was with daniel evans taking snaps. our running game killed you. it was not a qb. its nice to know greene has a possible 3 more years at state hahaha. not sure how many times i gotta tell you holes... ITS NOT ALL WILSON. lol

Glennon isn't mobile at all; Russel killed us because he was a dual threat. Our corners and pass rushers will eat Glennon alive next year (hopefully). RW was a special, special player except when he was throwing picks.

Man, don't you know when NCSU beats UNC it's because UNC didn't really care (certainly not as much about the fill-in-the-blank game as NCSU), because NCSU only - ONLY - cares about beating UNC? Or, NCSU just got lucky? Or, UNC had multiple injuries? Or, NCSU was just fortunate enough to have the one player in the universe that UNC (and, I might add, all of their all-star lineup of agents - errr, coaches) could not come up with an answer for? Or, the dog ate their homework? Or, the devil made them do it? Or, they thought they'd just let NCSU win one to be a nice guy? Or, .....
Yet when UNC beats NCSU it's yet another sign of all that is pre-ordained and further proof of UNC fan's being one of God's chosen creatures, that it shows that all is right with the world, that the natural order of things has returned to all of existence? Dontcha?
If NCSU loses the football game in Raleigh this fall, it will be because UNC fan was right, NCSU only rented the victory with the blood/arm/feet of Russell Wilson, who wasn't heavily recruited, and who wasn't highly regarded coming out of high school, and who played for a team and a coaching staff that sucks, and .....
If NCSU wins the game again this year, they won't have an explanation (there will be an endless list of reasons and excuses, but no explanation), and you sure as hell won't get a "congratulations" or a "great game by your guys on Saturday" - just enjoy watching the meltdown. -

Regardless of who is playing for NCSU this coming season, it's going to come down to effort, dedication and determination - of each player individually, and of the team as a whole.
I do "hate" to make the comparison, but I guarantee you that neither Roy Williams nor Coach K tolerate slackers - how you practice is how you play, that carries over in almost any sport.
Just like predicting the season's results in late April - time will tell. Kind of pointless to discuss it right now.

I guess that I caught up with the hype and the media about the NC State hire. I went on after Sid was fired/resigned. This was a simple bow on out. Print anything you want. Sid was out. They were kind to him in the media.
Gottfried has a team with talent. He has hired some good assitants. Time will tell us. They should be better with Sids's top guy recruits. This season should be all about more discipline. Lazy guys that don't work out in the weight room. I think that any coach with experience knows that it begins in the weight room. -

Gottfried wasn't a bad hire. He wasn't the top of the wish list, but other than having a blemish with a student he sounds OK. He doesn't blow us away that read a little. One thing has has done thus far is hire some quality and proven assistants. He ran out of the gate and did what he needed to do.

They say State is not their rival because we haven't competed with them for the last 20 years.
But Duke is their rival in football. Refresh my memory, how many times has Duke beaten Carolina in football over the last 20 years?
That Carolina says Duke is their rival in football just proves that the ONLY sport Carolina fans care about is basketball. Since they hate Duke so much in basketball, it carries over into every other sport. But it's all about basketball.
Otherwise, they wouldn't consider Duke their rival in football. -

unc fans have such "high standards". they think we should base our season on a team that is 1-2 in bowl games and one we have beat every year, they love talking about the greatness of herb 88-73 (38-52) even though he finished 12-18 (4-14) this year at asu but hey i guess when your coach used to be matt doherty that is a HUGE accomplishment of a record. its almost laughable.

unc fans have such "high standards". they think we should base our season on a team that is 1-2 in bowl games and one we have beat every year, they love talking about the greatness of herb 88-73 (38-52) even though he finished 12-18 (4-14) this year at asu but hey i guess when your coach used to be matt doherty that is a HUGE accomplishment of a record. its almost laughable.

UNC's athletic department accomplishes more in a year than State could accomplish in a decade. 37 national titles by UNC compared to 2 by State, now THAT is almost laughable!

chapelthrill2007, I don't think your basketball team won the championship this year. You don't get a trophy for having the best record during the regular season. NOT RECOGNIZED as conference champs unless you win the tournament. Did you win the tournament? You all claim this because you want to hang a banner in the old dean dome. FB program in trouble. UNC is the new Miami. Your baseball team is ranked #5? Not really. I think you lost three this weekend to GUESS WHO? Now go change those light blue panties you have on.

Our baseball team is 30-7 and may have lost to the Wolfpack, but, guess what, at least we'll end up in the postseason.
FB program is fine, and I think we'll be in better shape than the wolfpack this fall. -

If NC State is on the jersey then the title represents the university, regardless of whether it's a team or individual sport. If anything, Darron Caldwell's title is MORE impressive simply because he did have to win all by himself. You can't depend on one or two star players carrying the bulk of the weight when it's just one man on the wrestling mat.

listen all you nay sayers saying tob cant backup back to back winning seasons, well just you wait. we are going to get 9 or 10 wins this year. And we are so much better than UNC in football, that is what matters to me.
