An Olympic gold medalist returned home to Greensboro early Monday morning.
Friends and family waited at Piedmont Triad International Airport to cheer for sprinter Randolph Ross as he returned home from Tokyo.
WXII reports North Carolina A&T track teammates Ross Jr., from Garner, and Trevor Stewart, from Lorton, Va., ran in the men's 4x400-meter relay in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and each earned a gold medal for their efforts.
According to A&T, those are the first gold medals in school history.
"It's great bringing home something," Ross said. "A lot of people get the chance to compete, but competing in the top three on the world stage is something amazing. We've definitely got some work to do ... but as we mature and get older, we'll definitely bring back more."
Ross, 20, is a Garner native.
