With North Carolina loosening some of its restrictions on outdoor gatherings, the Carolina Panthers announced today in a release that they will welcome back fans in a limited capacity starting October 4 when they host the Arizona Cardinals.
Governor Roy Cooper announced Tuesday that venues which hold at least 10,000 people can operate at 7% capacity beginning on October 2.
This will mean as many as 5,278 fans would be allowed at Bank of America Stadium.
Panthers' owner David Tepper had tried to get fans into the stadium before now, but that did not happen.
"We have worked for months to develop and implement a responsible and comprehensive plan for the return of fans and we are confident that it will ensure that your game day experience is enjoyable and as safe as possible," the Panther's release states.
"The excitement of the game will be the same, but many aspects of a game day experience at Bank of America Stadium will be different. Your health and safety, along with that of our players, coaches, and personnel, is our top priority. These new protocols were developed to help you feel confident, safe and comfortable when coming to Bank of America Stadium and enjoying a seamless experience – from your Uptown parking lots and our gates, to the concourses and ultimately, your seats."
The Panthers played their first home game this season in front of no fans. They lost at Tampa Bay last week (in front of some fans) and will travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers on September 27 before their October 4 meeting with the Cardinals.
