Not sure why, GUNNY. I don't know if it's because they have so many hours to fill. Even Mike and Mike spend time talking about silly things. Dan Patrick also spends a lot of time talking about things other than sports, and these are national shows. March madness is at its peak, there's the NBA playoff picture coming into focus, and NFL news, NHL playoffs on the horizon, and these shows all fill the airwaves with things other than sports.

Never have been a Gottlieb guy- he can be a little arrogant
lot of the sports media types think they can say anything
if it sticks good if not oh well sorry. Seems the local guys
are trying to out do the national media.
Years ago there was a show that came on during the week
called primed time in the ACC-with Mark Packer that was
a great show, he packed a lot of sports into one hour. The show is still on, I heard it the other day but it sucks now. I catch Packer on xm when I am driving the car that has it Their are no real local sport talk shows locally, use to be all the rivalry games would be talked all week (unc-state,State-duke, Unc Duke) last week the unc duke was touched on but no real good coverage- heard some mentions of state-unc They are more interested in American Idol, Game shows and music it would real nice to get a real sports show (just sports), sorry I have rattled on too much, all have a good day
— Posted by nmbeachblast53I remember that show, was on tuesdays or wednesdays, good show, 103.5 (Jon boy and Billy) he comes on that show once in a while, he is a no nonsense guy tell it like it is.

Glenn took up the battle and kind of made an a-- out of himself (from what I heard) did he mention that he is lawyer, owned multiple businesses, a genuine expert on everything ACC.
— Posted by Maxwell Silver IIIDG never misses an opportunity to brag. He saud he's been covering the ACC for 30 years. Last year he said it was "more than 25". And he had to say he (literally) had a million dollars to bet about Hubert Davis not being the next HC.
Gottlieb came off like an a**. I was glad Roy set the record straight. Gottlieb's statement could be very damaging to recruiting. Agree that Roy could have chosen not to go the "shorts on backwards" route. Gottlieb never should have made that statement IMHO. -

I don't listen to sports radio, Gunny. My opinions generally come from the following;
1- saw the game
2-accessed team's site for info. (news/updates/stats)
3-saw a segment on something (ex. Carolina Panthers Programming, Intentional Talk-MLB, etc.)
4-online research
5-past experiences/observations
Nothing against sports radio - just not my thing.

Whatever your source, you're very informed about sports, B. Some local sports radio shows have become their own versions of "The View". I keep the radio on as background.
Yesterday was very interesting, though. David Glenn has Doug Gotlieb on, and they were discussing Gotleib's comments about Roy retiring after this season and Hubert Davis a likely candidate to take over as HC. The discussion got a little contentious, which is very unusual on that show. Gotleib accused David Glenn of "attacking" him (he didn't, but he did bet a million dollars that Hubert Davis would NOT be Carolina's next HC. And DG made it clear he has a million dollars and would make the bet.

You would think they were lettermen in about 4 sports-I notice they love to criticize Roger Godell, I do believe he has mad a lot of mistakes but to handle the pressure that man has to deal with I think he earns his money.

— Posted by packman53David Glenn (the 12 -3 guy) is smart, but he always has to brag about something. He's been saying that he's been "covering the ACC for 30 years". Um, he's in him mid-forties, so unless he started covering the conference when he was a mid-teen, he's lying. He brings too many things back to himself, no matter what the subject it.
Adam went to Maryland, and I don't think played any sports. He's smart and writes very well, but is very condescending, and if he doesn't agree with you, you have no chance. I don't believe Joe played any sports at all. He used to produce the radio show and got promoted years ago to where he is now. He likes to fancy himself a "hipster". He seems to take clues from Adam as to how to treat callers, but on his own, he's not as mean-spirited.
I like Manascalso and Lauren Brownlow - glad Mark is gone, but the new guy isn't good either.
I like Mike & Mike the best, but like to hear local sports talk. -

good morning gunn and gunny
been down with a cold couple of days woke up this morning and the show 5.2,
was on - these guys are all about protecting Cam, as the old saying goes you reap what you sow
Cam has plenty of time to redeem himself cause what he said rub a lot of people the wrong way
Jerry Richardson will not condemn his QB but his silence about the matter says a lot.
The matter of endorsements was talked about, the guys on didn't seem to understand the damage that Newton has done to himself-cost himself a lot of money.
Hopefully his agent can get it across to him it not humbling to humble, just release a small press release about regretting then the healing can begin. Next year he is gonna catch a lot flack from competitors on the field and news media feeds on this stuff-
— Posted by Maxwell Silver IIILike the "Gunn and Gunny" reference, Maxwell:)
Some Denver players were ripping Cam about his attitude. I hope he doesn't become a target next season. Time to let all this go and move on, but players can have long memories, and if the dancing and dabbing rubbed them wrong, Cam's reaction to the loss only rubs salt in those wounds. I didn't even think of the endorsement side, and you're right, it probably cost Newton some big bucks. That said, someone could probably come up with the right product. If there was a product for "sour grapes", Newton would be a good spokesperson. Sometimes, it's good to poke fun at yourself, like Steve Harvey did after his gaffe at the beauty contest. -

maybe this will a secret hide away, I will admit I get a little crazy but only in response to someone crazy statement.
As far as BB I am pack fan and will be the first to admit this is a bad year but I still go to games
mainly because I love to watch Cat Barber play.
Think UNC is one dependable player away, they have outstanding players but when they all disappear makes for a tough night!
Duke is starting to come around great shooting but that could be their achilles on any giving night.
— Posted by GUNNY IIII'm a Heels fan, but Cat Barber is the best player in the ACC IMHO. I don't believe a team's W/L record should play a factor in determining who gets ACC POY. I have to hand it to Gottfried - he's keeping a positive attitude and his players never quit.
The Heels have talent, but they haven't played well since the game @ Florida State. They look disorganized and aren't shooting well, and are fouling too much. I'm not sure what's going on, but with their back-loaded schedule, they need to figure things out or they'll be losing more games than they win. Last night @ BC was a perfect example. How do they let the worst team in the ACC beat their tails for most of the game? Paige is hitting some shots, but he also missed a fair share, even FT's. He's still out of sorts. Good to see Jackson step up last night - they needed every single one of his points.
Hope we can keep posting here - very refreshing to talk sports! -

2-Cam had a great season, not achieved greatness yet must put a couple great season together
3-Cam's performance at the press conf. purely immaturity, as an earlier show said with good coaching he should be able to improve this.
