I know! If I'm the 'Niners, I would have rethought that HC offer after watching the play calling in the SB. How do you lose that game when you're ahead by 19 in the 4th quarter???

Really think play calling cost the Falcons. That sack hurt and the Falcons got away from the run game. There defense was on the field for I think 93 plays and the GOAT was feasting!!! LOL!!
— Posted by Toddler10-21Agree, T, the GOAT sure did feast on Atlanta's poor play calling. And now he can burp up a SB ring lol.

Heartbreaker for Atlanta. Hate it for Matt Ryan. They snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. This one has got to hurt worse than the Panthers' SB loss last year. Atlanta had control of the game. Then the fourth quarter and OT happened.

+1...Ryan deserved it & glad to see him get the MVP.
He completed 69.9% of his passes (incredible), threw for almost 5000 yards (very Brees-like), & tossed 38 TDs against 7 picks (off the charts)
— Posted by DIAMONDBISHOPI hope he can add "Super Bowl Champ" to his resume, although it's been a while since the MVP QB was on the winning end of the SB.

I can't say that Smitty was a better role model than Rodgers, in the past. I've seen commercials where Smitty is teaching core values to kids, he even shows an instance where he admits he should have handled the situation better. To answer your question, though, I have to admit that Rodgers has been a better role model than Smitty. I also agree that had he toned it down, he might have played his entire career in Charlotte. He definitely overshadowed Cam, and impeded Cam's growth as a leader (I still don't think Cam is a leader), but things like punching a teammate in the nose during practice, etc. isn't the way to have a long career with one team. Josh Norman also crossed the line during summer practice when he got tangled with Cam. Those kind of antics don't make for good chemistry. Rodgers, on the other hand, may be arrogant, but when he's on the field, he's all about winning as a team.

Mike Maniscalco is doing work with the Canes - think he does some TV work with them as well, I always liked him. That morning show wasn't good, and the replacement one is worse IMHO.

— Posted by Maxwell Silver IIIMark Thomas does do some work for State. Their morning show was awful. Lauren Brownwell was on with them, and she does some work on the new morning show. She comes on the Adam and Joe show Tuesdays and Thursdays. I like her - she tells it like it is and doesn't back down. I listen to Dan Patrick when I'm in my car because they moved him to 1550 on the AM dial and I can't get the AM signal in my house. If I'm home, I catch him on TWC channel 65. Used to listen to Tim Brando years ago when he was on 99.9. David Glenn has gotten to the point where I can hardly stand to listen to him - toots his own horn all show long. Too bad, because he's a smart guy, but I can only listen to him bragging about his state-wide show, how he's covered the ACC for 30 years (that's not even accurate), started his own business, the lovely and talented Maria, yadda, yadda for just so long.

With that said, do you think Smitty is a better role model than Rodgers? Rodgers is one smug, arrogant dude, but his behavior overall is far better than Smitty's was. Had Smitty toned it down a little, he may have been able to finish his career in Charlotte. imo

Grayson Allen - not a big deal regarding the State thing. Just a situation where 2 players weren't willing to yield to one another and got tangled, shoved off. I have no problems with it at all. Happens more than you know. Some players walk around, others go through...is what it is.

Looks like #3 for State made it a point to walk at Allen. #0 comes in and makes it a point to walk into Allen as well. Allen was heading toward the Duke bench & they got in his way deliberately.

Allen has a attitude problem and things will get worse. He didn't play like that his freshman year. Remember when he went off in the final four? Maybe it went to his head? I really think he didn't like that he wasn't in the starting lineup. Duke doesn't have a PG.
— Posted by Toddler10-21If you had played the way he has, helped K win a NT, led 'em in scoring last season, and all of a sudden, your role is changed this season, & you're sent to the bench, how would that make you feel as a player, T? I think he has a right to be a little irritated over the current situation....minus the tripping stuff, which he brought on himself. He does appear to be playing with a chip but I can't say I blame him all factors considered.

— Posted by StunGunnThe Allen stuff has been blown way out of proportion. Didn't care for the tripping stuff but he needs to stand his ground like any other player. There are going to be situations where other players try to push his buttons. Happens all the time with players, but it's not always players.
Ex. Coached a baseball team back in the fall, thought an umpire was deliberately sticking it to my team, got on his case a little. As the game ended, and I'm walking to our dugout, he made it a point to walk toward the mound, like he was going to meet the guy in the field. He and I met at a point and he deliberately stopped while we were in close proximity to one another, obviously an attempt to make me go around him. If he keeps walking, we don't bump into each other. Anyway, we ran into one another because I wasn't expecting him to stop all of a sudden. Wasn't looking to be an --- but he brought it on himself by doing what he did - playing games. -

Agree on several points, Max. Yes - this Atlanta team is better than last year's Panthers' team.
I started disliking Rodgers last year when he had a hissy fit in Charlotte and threw a laptop to the ground, breaking it. Nice role model...NOT. When he facemasked/ripped the helmet off the Atlanta player at the end of the game, he showed his true colors. I've NEVER seen a QB do that before. I wish they could have flagged him for 30 penalty yards of unsportsmanlike conduct, instead of the 15 yards. Glad the Cheese Heads are home watching the SB instead of playing in it.

It was easy to see which teams were the elite yesterday, what is Rodgers problem, all of a sudden he become a jurk or maybe he has always been and just didn't see it. MVP should be locked up for Ryan now, I do not like New England but that system just keeps winning, a receiver or two go down and they put someone else in and they look like their all pro, they way they can get receivers open on a consistent basic, Belichick is a genius hands down--
Atlanta is just a solid football-Atlanta at 11-5 is a better football team that Panthers at 15-1

He always gave 100% on the field, made some incredible catches during his stay in Charlotte, short guy, that would go up against bigger DB's and just get the ball, was not afraid to get in a team mate face if he was not given 100%, probably was more passionate in practice than most in games
— Posted by Maxwell Silver IIICan't deny any of that. However, he was also very volatile, had some issues with teammates, & created a tense atmosphere at times. He played with a chip...nothing wrong with that, but there are certain lines that shouldn't be crossed in the name of good team chemistry, imo.

Atlanta is just a solid football-Atlanta at 11-5 is a better football team that Panthers at 15-1

So, how did you become such a Smitty fan?
:)
— Posted by DIAMONDBISHOPProbably because he was a Panther:) Kidding (sort of). I liked his guts. Rodgers seems like a petulant child, and arrogant. His you-know-what doesn't stink. Smitty knows his does stink and doesn't care:)

He always gave 100% on the field, made some incredible catches during his stay in Charlotte, short guy, that would go up against bigger DB's and just get the ball, was not afraid to get in a team mate face if he was not given 100%, probably was more passionate in practice than most in games

Gonna go see the Pack play today, hoping for a win-congrats to the 45th President, hoping for great things from him, watching some of the news on major networks, they are gonna try to make it tough on him-think they have picked on the wrong guy, in a strange way an independent has been elected President!!

Are you surprised by that? I don't have an issue with anyone protesting, as long as they understand what they're protesting, and do so in a peaceful manner. Supporting a candidate who accepted quite a bit of $$$$ from a country who continues to suppress women is hilarious to me. Rioting, looting, and carrying on because you didn't get the desired results falls on the ignorant side of the house. Last I checked, an election is held, we vote, tally the votes and run with it. Didn't realize we all have to vote for the same candidate, say the same dumb things, and think alike, all in the name of political correctness. Trump is far from perfect but this country needed a change, imo. Memo to the Democrats - keep choking the Russians, for example, and they're eventually going to respond, and it won't be on the ground. It's really not wise to try & choke a country financially when said country has a rock solid nuclear capability.

Not a fan of discussing politics, but like you said it was an election - the people voted and Trump won (not getting into the popular vote vs. the electoral college argument). People calling Trump voters racist, mysoganistic, etc. need to stick a sock in it. I don't like Trump, and I don't like Hillary. This election was kinda like choosing between eating liver or Lima beans on the buffet line ( censors wouldn't allow what I really wanted to write for the buffet choices).
Back to sports: I like the Falcons in the SB. A Gronk-less Brady is less daunting to beat for a team with as many weapons as the Falcons.

I do believe the Falcons will have a huge following in this for obvious reasons. Should be very entertaining. Gotta go with ATL since they've never won it.
— Posted by DIAMONDBISHOPwith you on that, hope Falcons play like they did Sunday
