Not being able to finsh off games, back then radio shows would take calls directly from fans-Herb got very defensive and rub some the wrong way
when you rub the money guys the wrong way your days are numbered! Marshall would be a grand slam HR but Archie would be great also-Will Wade would be my 3rd choice-when she gets on the podium to announce we will know if she had to settle!

Herb's "chopping wood" got tiring to fans, I think. He was a good coach, but took State as far as he could.

IMHO State is a good job, not a "great" job. I'd think there are enough good coaches that would welcome the opportunity to coach in the ACC. Like Max said, great city, great facilities, fans hungry for a PROGRAM, not a TEAM. Continued success, not just making the Tourney some years. State has every right to go after the best coach they can get. Why should State settle? They shouldn't! Lavelle Moton - heard his name mentioned for a possible assistant. How about adding Julius Hodge as well - he can attract and identify with recruits. He loves State. Would have to pry him away from Sendek, but I think it could be done. Imagine Archie and Julius coaching?

Hire Greg Marshall and add Levell Moton to the staff and lets rock and roll. I have heard that a lot of coaches have turned down the job in the past. I wonder why?

Herb was a good coach, but like usual fans had to gripe about something. I think it was the offense Herb ran. SMH!!

I keep reading and hearing rants and raves about the Pack coaching job-
Is it a good job, is it a great job, is it just a decent job-
status on whatever school you are talking will change-year to year
on history the state job is a top twenty- that has been down for 25 plus years
many think State is out of line thinking they can attract a top coach-why are
so many downgrading the Pack Job-Many positives in great city, great university-facilities are one of the best, the down time began when NC St. was forced fire Jim Valvano and hire Todd Turner and Les Robinson the program was virtually neutered it wasn't given the death penalty but was handed a gun and said do the right thing-have been trying to recover from this for almost 3 decades, Herb go the pack to a better level but had hit a ceiling and his bland and combative personality didn't help. When Herb left the media took exception, saying how dare you want to better yourself-
