racial tension is good business for some-it terrorizes some to think that different races, cultures and religions can co-exist

Media driven....have to sell their product, even if there isn't much to peddle. If not for the US media, race relations would probably be pretty good, imo. Gotta push that story/agenda & keep that pot stirred.

If its something in the least bit could be called racial-- networks we try to build it up, so they can write about for a few days.

Glad to see the Astros get that first WS ring. They deserved it. Astros hitters as a group have a good approach to hitting. They battle, put the bat on the ball for the most part. Dodgers hitters, or certain ones, seemed to swing out of their shoes even with 2 strikes....hence the K's. Not a good approach in crucial situations. Hats off to the Astros....good looking squad.

Gurriel - after seeing his apology, his actions since, looks like the dude is trying to make amends. Probably not a bad guy when it comes down to it. Just got a little excited after a HR, engaged in some silliness. Stuff happens but ya have to know that sort of thing is not going to go over well. Moving on....

I expected Manfred to handle it this way. Thought the Astros may have stepped up to the plate on this. Still going with the Astros but I had to question that after the clown move by Gurriel.

Suspended the first 5 games of a 162 game season. Really? He would probably appeal and play anyway, but at least MLB was trying to do the right thing by suspending him now when it hurts worse. Who cares about the first 5 games of the season? Come on Dodgers!!!

Have been pulling for the 'Stros all the way until the racist behavior of the Astros first baseman recently. Going with LA at this point. No place for that in MLB. Too bad Rob Manfred can't get it right.

If MLB handles this the way they should, he should get a 1 game suspension immediately, imo. After that, they move on. If they look the other way, that's not gonna look good to the viewers/fans.

+1...next man up. 'Stros looking good so far. Hope they pull it off. Unfortunately, Gurriel had to go all stupid on us & should be suspended for a game. I know it's the WS but he has to understand his actions are unacceptable.

    Go 'Stros...beat LA

Altuve is a fantastic player, the little engine that could. The 'Stros were about the only team willing to take a chance on him. Nice stroke, quick to the zone. Pulling for Houston all the way. Always liked McCann as well. He's had a nice career, bounced back somewhat from vision issues.

Agree with all of that but some managers/GMs/Pres's just can't seem to get it right. Theo has done an amazing job.

Heard the same thing about the Dodgers this morning, T. And yes, I know your philosophy has always been, "next man up"!

I don't have a dog in the fight, and both teams are good stories with Houston never winning the WS and the Dodgers last winning in the 80's. I'm glad the Astros evened up the series last night, though.

  • Toddler10-21 Oct 25, 2017

Just read where half the Dodgers payroll is either on the injured list, or released. So the team is mad up of call ups from the minors except for a couple of pitchers. be ready when your name is called.

  • Toddler10-21 Oct 24, 2017
    Sports Legend

I really don't care who wins now, but McCann deserves one. I still see Altuve in my sleep. Dude can play defense as well as hit. I don't really like the Dodgers because Puig has too much hotdog in him.

  • Toddler10-21 Oct 24, 2017

I just don't feel sorry for teams that haven't won in forever. Hire a GM that knows what he is doing. Spend some money, trades etc.. The reason they are winning now is because of Theo and they will be a top team for awhile. The Bartman excuse still gets on my nerve and you know how I hate excuses.
Great teams can win anywhere not just at home. Yankees 1-6 in the playoffs on the road. That 3-0 by Sanchez good lord.

Unfortunate situation that should have been prevented. Too many circus clowns peddling bad info., imo. The sad part is that certain fans still believe that garbage to this day.

Not a Cubs hater, Gunny. Once the playoffs started last season, I was pulling for 'em. 100 years is a long time. I have a strong dislike for a good number of their fans over the Bartman deal. Talk about clueless! True story - I'm having a discussion with a Cubs fan one day shortly after the Bartman incident. I was complimentary & told him to keep the faith as they were close. He immediately starts with the, "If Bartman doesn't.........", & I told him to stop it. Advised him that Bartman had nothing to do with it & the Cubs choked, especially their starting SS, who botched a DP grounder right after that that would have ended the inning. And then Dusty Baker adds fuel to the fire when asked about it following the game, which is why I have no respect for him as a manager. Cubs just didn't get it done and they can blame themselves, which I'm sure most of the players do. They know! I always liked Mark Grace as a hitter, like Rizzo & Bryant

Verlander has some nasty stuff. Was pulling for the Cubs last season due to the long drought. Glad to see them "break the curse" and get off Bartman's back for a year (being serious about that). I've always had an issue with hitters swinging at 3-0s because of what happened with Sanchez. Too anxious and assuming the pitch is coming down main street. Pitchers aren't as predictable as they used to be, imo. Hitters counts are not necessarily hitters counts anymore. Pitchers have gotten a little smarter ('bout time...lol). Agree with ya about walks as they always seem to bite you in the backside. Looking forward to the 'Stros/Dodgers...should be a good series. Hope the 'Stros take it.

    Dusty gone again.
Verlander was almost perfect last night. Walks are like errors can always spell unearned runs. Sanchez on a 3-0 check swing on a slider!! SMH!! Well Judge hit another one about a mile. It was time for Altuve to come out of his slump. Too good a hitter.
Game seven at seven big CC has been lights pitching after a Yankees loss.
Cant stand the Cubs. The only Cub I ever liked was The Hawk!!
Going to be hard to beat the Dodgers!!

LOL about Cubs fans blaming Bartman. Guess he isn't polishing his WS ring. Don't have a dog in the fight. Used to hate the Yanks because I was a Mets fan, but that ended after 9/11.

Just wondering.....are Cub fans going to go after Bartman again? LA smacks the Cubs 11-1, takes the NLCS 4-1, collects 16 hits in Game 5, but I'm sure those knowledgeable Cub fans will link this to The Bart Man....lol

Pulling for Houston but an LA/Yankees WS would be fun to watch.

He was on the Sox back then but didn't play in the post-season due to injury. Had a great career though, career .300 hitter with over 500 bombs. Aside from 05, he had some nice playoff moments as well. Terrific hitter during his career.

Mike Scott, JR Richards, Nolan Ryan, Jose Cruz and also the Biggio Bagwell days. Astros have never been in a world series that I can recall. Yankees up 4-0 might be a Dodgers/Yankees rematch of the 70's!! That would like a Lakers/Celtics series. It would be epic!!

Didn't think the Yankees would get by Cleveland but they did. Yankees/Dodgers rematch of the late 70's. Plus I have never liked the Cubs. Don't dislike the Astros at all. They have a tough all around team. Going to be hard to beat. Brian McCann can call a game.

Good lord Dusty. I'm a big fan of Harper probably the best in baseball along with trout, but he didn't show up last night. Tre Turner from NC State will be a all star soon.

Saw the Nats/Cubs, Harper dang near hit one out of the stadium. Lester was Lester for the Cubs, Zim with the clutch jack, Gonzalez didn't pitch bad at all but made a huge mistake to Rizzo with the hanger. Don't get that as Rizzo ripped that pitch foul twice in his first AB. Why would he serve that up later? Like watching Murphy hit....great approach to hitting.

Wow, T! After the Yankees made it 8-3, hate to admit it, but with CC shutting them down & knowing what was in their pen, I switched to the Cubs/Nats. Later, I see an 8-7 score & was surprised, starting tuning back in, watched the extras. Missed the hit batter but I was talking to an Indians fan this am who told me it should have been a K. Not only would that have changed the game, maybe the series. No excuse for the runner to get caught napping like that. Was watching when that happened.
