    K, Belichik, Pop, Saban? I would go with Saban.

    Interesting question, T. Funny thing is, all these are great coaches, and all are crusty guys that treat the media like they're a necessary annoyance. Saban has one more Natty than K, and I think football is harder to coach than basketball, so I agree with your choice of Saban. They're all so dis-likable, although I did see a softer side of Pop when a reporter was battling cancer. These guys are all coaching now. Who would you say is the best coach EVER? Would you put Lombardi in the conversation?

    I have to go with John Wooden. I know people say he had Alcindor and Walton. Wooden won 11 titles, but I think 5 or 6 were won without either. He coached against Dean and some great UNC teams during that time. The 74 State team beat UCLA in Greensboro that year in the final four. Walton says to this day he will never get over that loss. Maybe a little bias here, but Chuck Knoll won 4 super bowls and most of that roster was drafted by Knoll. Eddie Robinson, Clarence Big House Gaines were also great coaches, but they will never get the credit. I can say I will take Dean over K.

    T - I thought of Wooden, but that was in a different era. Do you think it's harder to win the NCAAT now than it was back then?

    Dean over K - I LIKE it! K has 5 titles to Dean's 2, so what criteria are you using?

    I think these days the one and done kills college basketball. No one could win 7 straight now because of that reason. Easier during that era.
    I know there are upsets all the time in all sports, but K has lost in the NCAA's to Mercer, Lehigh, VCU, and last year USC who also couldn't match the talent level of Duke and to me there is no excuse for it but K was just out coached. Duke fans will never own up too that. Dean I thought prepared his guys for the next level more IMO and also Dean has lost to some nobody's as well. Oh yeah I don't like K.

    Good points. I like your last comment the best. I don't like K either. When he let Grayson get away with dirty play with a ONE game suspension (that he called "indefinite") - and he also traveled with the team to that game - showed me K cared more about winning than doing the right thing.

    Dean although he had some health issues, but he really want Coach Gut to get a chance because he had been by his side for so many years. K is the opposite. He has had health issues, but isn't willing to retire and give one of his ex players a chance. Maybe he is scared Duke will still win without him? Also I think he does more cussing out ref's than coaching. There is a reason he wanted Bagley to leave high school early. True he has nothing to gain by finishing out his senior season basketball wise, but K sure can use him for one year. Take Bagley off of the roster right now. The way he handled Grayson Allen was a joke and they still lost.

    I am going with someone off the radar -doing a great job motivating player and playing winning football and maybe didn't have the best talent-have always admired George Allen, he could make you winners-he did a hell job in college too. I think it was Long Beach St. he coached to a championship in their conference.

    misread headline- gotta be Satan- if he goes too pro's like he has hinted, who takes his place, is Dabo high on the list, if I was Clemson I would lock him up, so it would cost who ever tries to get him has to pay. If Dabo doesn't go with it, I would start looking -Clemson would be high on the list of a lot of good coaches-RIGHT NOW-

    Gotta go with Coach Morris Buttermaker after the job he did with the Bears. Norman Dale would be a close second.....:)

    Seriously, best college hoops coach is K, best NFL coach is Belichick, Bochy is the best in MLB, don't follow the NBA but would go with Jackson as the 'best ever', best college football coach is Saban....all obvious choices based on performance.

    Coaches I pull for - Martin at SC (hoops), Dabo at Clemson, Gilmore at CCU (baseball), Williams at VT (hoops), and any coach who gets it done in less than ideal environments.

    agree with you like or hate him Belichick is for real, I like Buzz Williams, he seems to be genuine, cares for his players with tough love. I like Keatts its to early to tell yet but like what he has done so far. K is probably the best in BB, unfortunately he has an evilness about him.

    Saw a feature on VT's coach & liked what he stands for. Hope he does well.

    Keatts - time will tell but he's done a nice job so far. Big W's over Duke, Arizona, & Clemson.

    Have to admit while it hurt to see the Heels lost to VT, the joy expressed by both the fans and Buzz Williams was so genuine, it was refreshing. When K wins, not so much. Also good to see VT honor Coach Beamer. He also seems like a genuinely nice guy.

    Buzz Williams is easy to like. I remember him at Marquette. My favorite college coaches, Levelle Moton (NCCU), Martin, (USC), I would say Tomlin, but he needs to gain control of his locker room, 13-3 was because of talent not coaching. NBA Brad Stevens (remember him at Butler) even though I hate the Celtics. MLB, Tony Pena, (First base coach Yankees) thought he should have gotten the HC. Dawn Staley USC women's hoops.
