    So true, T, and just because a lot of money if changing hands above the table doesn't mean it isn't still being passed under it. When the basketball player from Baylor wanted $500K just to walk through the doors to the Smith Center, it got real. As in real bad. I'm kind of surprised the boosters didn't come up with the cash for that deal, but I'm glad they didn't. When you have a GM, you are a pro team. Some of these guys will take a pay cut when they go the NBA and the NFL lol.
    Saban can stuff it.

    Agree Gunny. College sports won't be the same again. The 5 stars are going to the school that offers the most. Duke has a GM. what does that tell you? Saban has a nerve to cry because other schools are getting his big time recruits. Bama, UK and Duke have been money dealing for awhile now.

    The Transfer Portal and NIL have made things really challenging for coaches. I can see a lot of the old time coaches retiring very soon - Boeheim, Laranaga, Leonard Hamilton to name a few. "Student"/Athletes are naming their price to even walk through the door. Not what college sports should be.

    Pack baseball was gonna be down this year- pleased with what they achieved (having lost 7 starters) believe they will be better next year. Losing Tommy is a blow but the seem to be using the portal to their advantage.

    Yeah, T, it sucks for both UNC and ECU. At least they both made it to the final 16 baseball teams still standing before they lost. Those weather delays can really take the momentum out of the game. Having to play in 100-degree heat is not healthy, but the teams in Omaha usually face brutal weather as well.

    Never thought about that. he can work from home. Other news his grandson announced his commitment. Wonder why this is news? Dude averaged 1 point a game.
    Watched the UNC/Arkansas game. I'm sure they would have loved to play in 100 degree heat. did it many times in little league, junior high, high school, and college. I know it's tough getting beat on your homefield in a elimination game. feel for ECU also. Well I'm glad Tenn lost.

    Herls have their hands full with Arkansas. If they lose today, their season is over. Can't imagine playing tomorrow or Tuesday in 100 degree heat.

    If you hire a GM, you're a pro team. This is crazy. Agree Max - schools are paying legally, and I bet under the table money is passing hands as well. Transfer portal makes things harder. It's all about the $$$ for schools and athletes. So call it what it is: semi-pro or farm teams.

    T - yes - Roy is smiling. Happy for him. I thought he might regret retiring, but with the way things are going now, he got out at the right time.

    Watched the Campbell/ Tenn baseball game. from fans to players arrogant and show boats. Moan about every call that didn't go there way. Campbell player got hit with a 90 mile per hour fastball and there fans and players barely stood and clapped when he got up.

    So where Rasheed Wallace is on the staff for the Lakers. happy for him.

    Right now K hired a GM. All about the money. Athletes are being forced to go to school. Let them go pro if they want to. They will attend the school that offers the most money. Don't even mention academics when you're recruiting.

    Roy looks so happy and relaxed. Kudos to him. Guess K will attend some Duke games that aren't called men's basketball? LOL

    College sports is changing drastically and not for the better, with the so called sports analyst and experts from ESPN and other outlets, Bilas has led the charge, pompous a- holes like him will continue ruin college sports, I have no problem with upping the stipend to help student athletes but these 6 six figure payouts is not healthy, it's just legally paying athletes. Down the line it will cause internal friction on teams, in a few short years the transfer portal will be a revolving door.

    Can't stand "Screamin" A. Smith" or Skip "Brainless". I like J Will, except when he pulls the Duke Card.
    It's all speculation, but the radio heads are saying Tommy White wants to be closer to home. He's got a right to do what he wants, but it stinks he transferred within the ACC.

    Now college football teams have GMs??? Never heard that before. Ohio State's Head Coach Ryan Day said Ohio State "needs" $13 million in NIL to keep the roster together. Are you kidding??? Some of these guys will take a pay cut when they go pro lol.

    I know max. Stephen A, Skip Bayless are the worst. Joy Taylor, Cowherd are right up there with them. joy and molly are there for looks with there make up selves. Joy is miss cleavage selfie. LOL. They know everything. Friend of mine played with Stephen A at WSSU. He said Stephen was a bonified bench cheerleader. I like JJ Reddick, J Will, Keyshawn Johnson, Shannon Sharpe, Kendrick Perkins, Marcus Spears. Those guys played the game at the highest level so they know what they are talking about.
    Well my high school is playing for the state baseball championship (Pinecrest). Farthest we have made it since my senior year in 1985 and lost in the regionals. Go Patriots.

    Been at the beach, spent weekend at DC visiting friends at the wall, resting up this week, I think Pack screwed but it is what it is. Saw couple a publications had Pack in top 10-please! Rather see them work their way up, I the coach D. Will have them grounded and work for what they get.

    Exactly, T. K can't accept the "former" part of his title. Wonder if Scheyer will wear an earpiece so K can still call the shots in games next season lol.
    Really surprised Tommy the Tank is transferring out of State and going to FSU. He had a great year at State and could have made bank with NIL. This NIL is the Wild West.

    Yes, T, I did see the dedication to Levelle Moton at the park bearing his name. Moton is one in a million. Cares about his players, wants to make a difference in their life, wants them to be successful. Basketball is just the medium to achieve that goal to better their lives, it's not like other coaches and schools "just win baby" values. Wish there were more like him!

    Schools like NC Central had it hard enough before, but with NIL, it's worse. Heard a discussion on the Packer and Durham show about the "stress" these "student" athletes are under when they're paid six figures. The coach has to given them sufficient playing time, they have to play up to the amount of $$$ they're being paid. Cry me a river. Welcome to the real world. We all have to perform when we get a paycheck. This NIL and transfer portal are not good for college sports.

    Looks like we will always have: Death, Taxes, Brady and K.

    Exactly Gunny. One guy told me that the schools make so much money off these athletes. My comeback, tell them to attend the schools that need the money so fans can fill the stands and pay the players.

    Exactly, T! "Just win baby" is the driving force. Just tell it like it is: these schools are basically farm teams for the pros. Semi-pro "student" athletes.

    And UK still won't win it all. It really shows how the coaches sit in peoples living rooms and tell the parents that your son will get a top tier education from a top tier university. I have known for years that that you just want them to win ballgames for you and a education is the farthest from your mind.

    Heard one basketball player wants $800,000 AND to be the center piece of the offense at Kentucky. This NIL is already out of control. I don't see how the smaller schools will survive. I read that the "student/athletes" will have to pay taxes on their NIL $$$, which is a good thing. Some will take a pay cut when they go to the NBA and NFL lol.

    All about the big time schools. A free education doesn't mean anything. Oh wait most can care less about that. I feel for the young adults that have to take out student loans and work jobs to get there education.

    Max - I've seen/heard that the NCAA's days as we know it are numbered. Glad Emmert is on his way out, but yeah, who will replace him. I think the NIL will be the beginning of the end of the NCAA. Did you see where the Miami basketball player will leave unless Miami ponies up with more NIL $$$? It's like these guys are free agents. Just tell it like it is: they are semi-pros. I also believe while NIL provides money above the table, there are boosters who will still give money under the table. I don't see how smaller schools in smaller conferences will be able to compete and survive, although they haven't been able to compete for years.

    LOVE the Panthers pick at 6! Didn't think "Icky" would be there at 6!

    Away from sports for a moment, saw an interview with Elon Musk, seems to be down to earth, to bad he can't run for president but he would be one hell of a secretary of Treasury, who is gonna replace Mark Emmert, somebody said Jay Bilas ( God help us, egotistical jerkwad) guarantee whoever it is won't be much of an improvement, should abolish NCAA and create a new body. My 2 cents -penny for your thoughts.

    Right on, T! I think he can improve and with the NIL he can make some good money. It's not without risk - injury or possibility of having a bad senior year, but yeah, Dookie doesn't want to see his team face a player that had his way with them again.

    I wish "IkKy" would be on the board when the Panthers pick at 6, but he'll most likely be gone.

    I don't think anyone will be ranking the Heels a Top 10 team like they did last year. QB is a big question. I hope Howell lands on a good team that will help him develop his skills. The Pack has a lot of returning players, including their QB, so they should have a good year.

    Glad to see so many players returning for Hubert Davis!

    All the teams have completed their spring schedule and spring game. It's hard to get a judge about on a team when offense is playing the defense, is the offense that good or is the defense that bad- red team in State's game put up 50 points. Defensively there was a silver lining- several key players on defense didn't play. Some have Pack picked high, some not at all. Being not ranked is ok let them earn it.
