Well, the local talking heads who were so critical of Time Beck changed (his) tune when it was made public that Beck was gone.
Yeah - I expected Chriswell to be gone. Don't blame him. Unless Maye got injured he'd spend all his time on the bench.
I really hate this transfer portal. It's like free agency in the NFL. I watch pro sports on Sundays. I won't watch it on Saturday. It's become the Wild West.

DJ has announced he is gone. Some Pack were wanting Tim Beck gone, well you got your wish, he was a good O.C. you don't call a winning play everytime, i have heard some coaches say sometimes you call a play you know will fail to create success later. Now I'm anxious to see who we can get. I heard that the backup QB at UNC will enter transfer portal.

I've gone to games at the PNC. It isn't Reynolds, but the visibility from all seats is good. Reynolds is kind of like Cameron - small - but filled with so much history and tradition. It's all about the $$$$ so a bigger venue = bigger $$$.
The transfer portal opens today. The Brinks trucks are filled up ready to pay players crazy amounts of money. What a turn off.
State got a good bowl and a great venue for their fans. Clemson was clearly the better team. Think that's the last we'll see of DJU. The backup played much better. Something about backup QBs beating Carolina.
I hope Drake Maye stays at Carolina, but I wouldn't blame him for transferring. With three straight losses, fewer schools may come calling, but I do believe he'll garner interest.

Well football season is over- except for bowl games, I see some good match-ups Duke deserved a better bowl. I watch Basketball but not like I used too. I would drive to Raleigh for every home game, from 83 till they moved into the PNC , never missed a home game and went to several away games. The PNC experience was a turn off for me, Reynolds was great. When they started building these large arena's it wasn't the same, not the personal touch, lost interest.I usually don't buy a lot from the vendors at games but some have gotten you have to use a card and they charge a surcharge. I may go to a couple games this year, the excitement is not there especially when can sit in your living room and watch for free, in your nighttime attire. Hats off to Clemson they were on their game.

Max - I get why State fans like Doeren.
I support Swofford's decision to give FSU the trophy in 2020. That was such a weird year with Covid. I don't support him letting ND in the ACC except for football. ND shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose which sports they participate in the ACC. I heard that financially ND would have been better off being in the ACC for football as well. I saw on ESPN that ND should have been playing in the ACC Championship tonight. Um, NO, they called their shots, and they chose not to be in the ACC for football. So take a hike, ND. Don't need ya. I like Mike Brey, and he had no say in ND's decisions.
I don't know why the powers that be thought having divisions would be a good idea. All it did was have imbalances in the ACC. How many years did State have to deal with Clemson and FSU. I am glad to see the divisions gone. Let the two best teams play for the championship. You know I'm a heels fan, but they're not the second best team in the ACC.

DD is a blue collar guy, I like that, lots of people want him fired or O.C. gone, I think both are doing a good job, most do not understand the complex schemes it takes, the players love DD, he's a players coach. Kind of anxious to see which bowl we get. What gets me is N.D. is not football inclusive as far as ACC goes. When Swofford let N.D. in except FB, he then gave them one of the ACC bowl berths, have no respect for him on doing that and granting FSU automatic ACC champs the covid year, now that ACC is getting rid of divisions, makes you wonder why they had them to start with. BB is here, I'm hoping what I see from Pack is real not a mirage. My thoughts, I don't like Dawn Staley, it would tickle me if she had a down year, then watch her start blaming others.

Well, Max, congrats to your Pack. I predicted State would win. I was surprised it went to to OT's. Bad missed FG by our kicker, but even if it went to triple OT, no guarantee Carolina would win. I don't like Doeren, but he was right about the losing team having to eat the "you-know-what" sandwich for 364 days. I'm still full from last year's sandwich - lol. No doubt State has had Carolina's number. Mack - please go back to ESPN.

I have no dislike for Corso but I will always remember how arrogant he was, I used to like Herbstreit but he is becoming full of himself, Chris Fowler I have always liked, my favorite of all time is Mark May, straight shooter, him and Holtz we're a good pair.

I wish the same for Lee Corso, but he needs to retire. He's too feeble. Kirk Herbstreit is very kind to him and tries to help him out when he loses his train of thought, but it's time for a replacement. I'm not surprised that you found him to be arrogant. Dickie V also needs to retire.
Yeah, Max, the season did go by so fast. Too fast. I'm nervous about today's game. I won't watch. I get frustrated watching Carolina play. So much talent on offense and while Drake Maye is a phenomenal player, he can't win games all by himself. The defense needs to step up and do something. Anything.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving!

Final regular season game, season went by fast, Paul finebum said TCU doesn't belong in playoffs, he has never played the game, never played the game yet he glorified by the media, just another pompous know it all. On another note I wish Lee Corso s full recovery but on another note, I met him at a bowl game at one of the media tents, he is not a nice person, very arrogant person.

Well, all three Triangle teams lost yesterday, but by far the most disappointing has to be Carolina. They played a bad Georgia Tech team - at home - with a backup QB and interim Head Coach - and blew a 17-point lead. Very disappointed.

Have been thinking the same about Toddler - he used to check in on a fairly regular basis. We have no way of knowing if he's OK or not, and I sure hope he is.

I can't believe how fast the football season has gone. Will be over before we know it. I really hate it when basketball season is over because it's such a long span of time before things start up again. I like watching the Canes play, but I don't get Bally on HULU, so I only get to watch a hand full of games.
Good luck to your Pack today. The last time I watched L'Ville play, I didn't like what I saw: dirty play. But that was just part of one game, so I don't know their culture.
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

yea I think Clemson is still the king, they have a real good offense and their defense is still outstanding, the QB play has dropped a notch but is still good, As usual Football season passes quickly can't believe in couple weeks regular season is over.

Max - Clemson may still be the best team in the ACC, but that's a pretty low bar. Clemson isn't what they used to be since Trevor Lawrence left for the NFL.
I can see State winning their final two games, and that would be a pretty good record at 9 and 3. It's so hard for me to say what Carolina will do. I can see them losing both final games or going 1 and 1. That would be a good season, certainly better than expected at 9 and 3 or 10 and 2. It will be hard to beat Clemson in the ACC Championship game, even a less than stellar Clemson team. If only the Heels' defense was half as good as the offense, they'd be a tough out.

  • Maxwell Silver III Nov 15, 2022

well that was a let down-- M.J. had a bad day-- first two drives- smoothe then I think B.C threw him some curves he was not ready for-- he got frustrated, injuries has hurt--S.Jackson was out, Pennix was hurt, Gibson got hurt early. The bright spot was Michael Allen, he is gonna be good, will be growing pains next year but they have the talent. Last 2 games up for grabs- some may not buy into it but Clemson still is above and beyond-- they play N.D. again they win. There is a cluster of 7- 8 teams after Clemson that are close together

Things got tougher for State losing Leary for the season. Was surprised to hear about his torn pec after the news that the MRI came out clear. Gotta feel for Leary - two years in a row and he's done for the season. He's smart and tough. Wonder what he'll do next year. Happy (and surprised) that Carolina beat Miami. The game with Duke was a dog fight; glad Carolina pulled out the win and are bowl eligible. They play Wake and State - tough games.

LOL at David Glenn! I heard on the radio that he's teaching at UNC-W. I remember him saying that he loves the beach, so now that his kids are grown, maybe he moved there? I still get some sort of notices from the "David Glenn" show, but it's not on anywhere around here. I still remember him bragging about having the only "statewide radio show" in North Carolina. Yeah - his wife, the "Lovely and Talented Maria" he had to bring up every day. He's smart, but I don't miss his bragging at all. Speaking of super-model wives, I'm surprised Tom and Gizelle are calling it quits. I guess she really expected him to retire for real. What a waste, because I think he's done after this year anyway.

Max - the game was competitive for a good portion, but Clemson was playing at home, which helped. I couldn't believe all the fanfare - the bus ride, with the police escort, etc. You'd think it was the national championship game. It's one loss; State shouldn't let Clemson beat them twice. I heard/read that no team prepares like Clemson. They look at game tape like no other and are prepared for every offensive and defensive move their opponent makes. Dabo tries to sell the "country boy" image, but a reporter who used to cover Clemson described Dabo as "Machovelanian" in his coaching.

Agree about the four and five star players who are told they are the next Jordan or Brady since they were in middle school. The NIL makes things worse. Players pick schools based on $$$ and will transfer for greener pastures. College sports will never be the same.
It looks like Ian won't make as much of an impact on tomorrow's games as originally thought. The field will still be wet, and that can cause players to suffer injuries. Oh well. It's all about the television $$$ and nothing to do with player safety.

  • Maxwell Silver III Sep 28, 2022

Whatever sport, I have said it's easier to coach to 3 star or mid range 4 star than high 4 star players, most, especially 5 star players have been told how great they are and are coddled thru the process, I love watching 3 star guys work hard and get better and better, I worked with Dee Hardison and we became good friends, we picked back and forth, he worked hard and was a pretty good pro with giants, I was so sad when he passed, it's all about commitment once you get to college, my point lower class recruits will try harder, all teams have had that one player that just overachieved.

Moving the ACC HQ to Charlotte sucks, Greensboro has done such a good job for many years. Hope they don't move the tournament, the ACC Tournament in Greensboro is special. Agree about the new show with Packer - not as good as his morning show with Wes. I do like Wes - Packer needed an easy going co-host, and Wes is easy going.
This is definitely the year for State to beat Clemson - their QB just isn't any Trevor Lawrence. I can see State winning the ACC championship this year - it sets up nicely for sure. I don't see Carolina beating Notre Dame, even though Notre Dame isn't all that. If Carolina had to struggle to eek out a win against Georgia State and App State (who isn't a slouch), I don't see them beating ND. I like Mack, but I think the game has passed him by. There's something missing. Gotta give him credit for reviving the program and excitement, but something is missing. They didn't play up to their talent the past two years.

I like Packer, I wasn't a fan of Wes, he was to tow the ESPN corporate line, I have listen to Packer for almost 20 years, his Prime Time in the ACC was a great show, he would be better as a stand alone show, the morning show was better than this show. The two co-host are not that good, to much repeating, lots of cliches, the girl is the worse, if they want diversity, get some one that's good. I don't think Pack pick these two, just my 2 cents. I think ACC will get at least 10 teams in bowl games, GT and BC probably not but it's wide open.

I liked Packer and Durham on the ACCN, but that show was canceled. I'm not a Packer fan, but Wes made him bearable. Now Packer has some afternoon show on. He thinks he's the be all and end all, just like his father. Very arrogant. Agree that ESPN and ABC get the good games and the less interesting games end up on the ACCN. At least it gives us a chance to see games that might not be televised. Good luck to your Pack this weekend. They're favored by a lot. Saw where Nebraska might be interested in Doeren. They could offer him a ton of money, but he seems happy in Raleigh.

As a Pack fan I just want to beat Texas Tech, then worry about the next game. I would not mind if ACC would go to 9 games, 3 non conference-(Mandatory 1 P-5, 1 G-5) I will give Duke credit they play 3 D-1 teams 2 of them P-5 (Kansas and Northwestern). I think Miami is in for a rude awakening at College Station-they will be some angry folks down there. The so called ACC Net is none other than another platform for ESPN-the programming sucks, ESPN and ABC gets the top games and filters the rest down to ACCN.

Two weeks into ACC football: most surprising team-- Duke
Most Improved team: Syracuse Most Disappointing team: Louisville--
Seems like all the talk of expanding - 20 team leagues has disappeared for now- the expansion of the playoffs kind of halted that. It is still time for the ACC to tell N.D. on or off the pot- the in all sports but FB is getting old. State just may be the best team in the ACC. Clemson doesn't look all that good, especially at QB. This may be State's year. Saw speculation that Rhule might go to Nebraska. Would hate that for the Cornhuskers. Panthers looked bad for most of the game. Almost pulled out the win, but that late FG by Cleveland (that kicker is awesome) and a terrible roughing the passer call doomed the Panthers.

Alabama, I thought this was gonna be the Saturday, not a big Texas fan. Didn't see any other games but watched a replay of Duke. Well, Wake and State looked good. Carolina and ND, not so much. Carolina is in big trouble if they don't get their defense going. They gave up over 20 points in the third quarter.
