Terquavion Smith expected to hear his name called during the NBA Draft on Thursday night.
While that didn't happen, it was a short wait for Smith to land with an NBA team.
The Philadelphia 76ers announced Friday they had signed the former NC State guard to a two-way contract.
The 6-foot-3 Smith averaged 17.9 points for the Wolfpack and made the All-ACC Second Team as a sophomore after opting not turn pro after his freshman season.
Smith's fellow backcourt mate at State, Jarkel Joiner, also inked a pro deal Friday. Joiner signed an exhibit-10 contract with the Atlanta Hawks.
Former North Carolina Tar Heel Leaky Black was also not drafted but signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets. The 24-year-old forward is from nearby Concord.
The last UNC player to be drafted was Day’Ron Sharpe in 2021.
The Hornets also drafted Brandon Miller from Alabama with the No. 2 overall pick.
