After missing out on the 2018 tournament, the USA men's national team will make its debut in the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Monday, Nov. 21. The tournament will be held in Qatar from Nov. 20-Dec. 18.
USA will begin their journey to the final round in Group B, one of eight total in the group round.
The three other teams competing with USA in Group B are England, Wales and Iran. Once round-robin play is over, only the top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout rounds. If the USA makes it out of Group B, they will face a Group A opponent (Ecuador, Netherlands, Qatar or Senegal) in the round of 16.
The United States will have its hands full against Wales on Monday. Former Real Madrid and current LAFC winger Gareth Bale can be a threat to the USA. Coach Gregg Berhalter should cook up a plan to stop or slow down the former UEFA Champions league hero.
