Durham, N.C. — Weather permitting, Team USA will play at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park Monday evening before heading to Tokyo for the Olympic Games.
The team will face off against the Collegiate National in the second of a three-game exhibition. They won Sunday's contest 8-3 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, although the game was shortened due to rain.
Tickets are still available for the game, which starts at 6:35 p.m.
Futurecast radar shows rain blanketing central North Carolina throughout much of Monday afternoon, but the chance for showers starts could taper off as we head into the evening. Monitor WRAL's weather forecast for updates.
Durham Bulls pitchers Shane Baz and Joe Ryan made the Olympic team and could pitch in Monday's game at their home ballpark.
Baseball is back at the Olympics for the first time since 2008, but there won't be any fans at games because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The tune-up games are the only chance to see team USA in person before they head to Tokyo.
"There won’t be anyone on site at the Olympics watching these folks, so this is an opportunity that the world will not even get that the Triangle will be able to get in on," said Scott Strickland, assistant general manager of operations. "That’s pretty special and something to look forward to."
Tickets for Monday's game are $12, and plenty are still available. The contest will be streamed live on USABaseball.com, as well as Facebook and YouTube Live.
