UNC men, women get marquee home games in inaugural ACC-SEC basketball challenge

The North Carolina men's and women's basketball teams will host marquee match-ups in the inaugural ACC-SEC basketball challenge in late November, ESPN announced Wednesday.
The UNC men will host Tennessee on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:15 p.m. Tennessee defeated Duke in the NCAA Tournament's second-round in March before falling to Florida Atlantic in the Sweet 16.
The UNC women will host national power South Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. South Carolina, which won national titles in 2017 and 2022, has reached the Final Four three consecutive years. The Tar Heels are scheduled to play perennial power Connecticut on Dec. 10.
NC State's men's team will visit Ole Miss on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 9 p.m., while the Wolfpack women will host Vanderbilt on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:15 p.m.
Duke's men's team will visit Arkansas on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 9:15 p.m. Duke (27-9) could open the season at No. 1 in the country, and Arkansas has reached the Sweet 16 the last three years, including Elite Eight appearances in 2021 and 2022. Duke defeated Arkansas in the 2022 Elite Eight.
The Duke women will visit Georgia on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 5 p.m.
Wake Forest hosts Florida in the men's challenge and Texas A&M in the women's challenge.
The UNC, NC State and Duke (26-7) women's teams all reached the NCAA Tournament in 2023. The Duke and NC State's men's teams also played in the NCAA Tournament in 2023.
The challenge consists of 14 men's games and 14 women's games. The challenge with the SEC replaces the long-running ACC-Big Ten men's basketball challenge. ESPN no longer has broadcast rights to the Big Ten.
Duke went 20-4 in the ACC-Big Ten challenge.
The games will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, the ACC Network and the SEC Network.
