North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye, one of the biggest stars in college football, is now a "Rock Warrior."
Maye and six other big-name college athletes are promoting star Dwayne Johnson's new energy drink, Zoa Energy. It is the latest name, image and likeness (NIL) deal for Maye, the nation's leader in total offense and the ACC Player of the Year in 2022.
In addition to Maye, LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. are endorsing the product.
"Our inaugural class is comprised of seven of the strongest and most diverse world-class college athletes in the country. Each athlete was carefully chosen by our founder @therock for their optimism, enthusiasm, and commitment to striving for something bigger. LET’S GET IT," Zoa Energy tweeted from its branded account Wednesday.
Maye, a sophomore who is eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft, has partnered with Jimmy's Famous Seafood, one of his sponsors, to offer four tickets to an Eric Church concert to benefit the Heels 4 Life NIL collective. Jimmy's Famous Seafood announced a deal through the end of the year with Maye and six UNC receivers in June.
Maye is estimated to have an NIL value of $1.5 million, according to On3 Sports.
Johnson, known as The Rock, played college football at Miami before going onto a superstar wrestling and acting career. Johnson and his partners own the XFL.
