Chapel Hill, N.C. — Legendary UNC basketball player Eric Montross will be honored Friday night when UNC hosts Charleston Southern.
His usual seat at the scorers table will be empty.
Play-by-play announcer Jones Angell posted on X that he would call Friday night's game by himself.
Montross provided radio analysis on the broadcast for 18 seasons before stepping away due to his battle with cancer. He died on Dec. 17.
This is the first home game since the 52-year-old passed away and likely just one of many ways UNC will recognize his legacy.
