NC State is set to face Kentucky in the round of 32 Monday, at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.
Head coach Wes Moore and UK's Matthew Mitchell go way back.
He and Mitchell first met when Moore was the head coach at Chattanooga and Mitchell was Pat Summitt's assistant at Tennessee.
Moore explained, "I've known Matthew Mitchell a long time. I'll tell you a little story. When I first took the UT Chattanooga job, he had been a high school coach for years and he was hired by Pat Summit to be a GA at Tennessee and one of my assistants knew him pretty well. When we moved to Chattanooga we decided to put sod in ourselves so I hired guys to help me and Matthew Mitchell came over for $100 and helped lay sod. He's making a little more than that now."
