What NC State's Final Four runs are worth to Keatts, Moore

Posted April 2, 2024 11:44 a.m. EDT

With NC State set to play in the Final Four of the men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments, its coaches are cashing in on contract bonuses, raises and extensions.

NC State women's basketball coach Wes Moore, men's basketball coach Kevin Keatts and athletics director Boo Corrigan have specific contractual clauses tied to performances in the ACC Tournament and/or NCAA Tournament.

Here's what they've made so far – and what's still left to claim with a few more victories.

Kevin Keatts

Keatts signed an amended contract in February 2023 that extended his deal through April 15, 2028, taking advantage of a provision in a previous contract that allowed him to extend for two seasons if the men's basketball program faced NCAA sanctions for violations that occurred before he became head coach.

He was paid $2.7 million in salary and supplemental compensation for this season.

Already earned:

2-year extension through 2030 (for winning ACC Tournament or for reaching the Final Four; cannot be extended more than two years in any single season)

$500,000 raise (for reaching Final Four)

$100,000 bonus (for winning ACC Tournament)

$200,000 bonus (for reaching Final Four)

Can still earn:

$100,000 raise (for winning national title)

$50,000 bonus (for reaching national title game)

$150,000 bonus (for winning national title)

$50,000 bonus (if team is ranked in the top 25 of AP or coaches poll following NCAA Tournament)

$100,000 bonus (if the team is ranked in the top 15 of the AP or coaches poll following NCAA Tournament)

Wes Moore

Moore signed a contract extension in April 2019 that ran through April 30, 2025, but has been extended to its maximum of April 30, 2028 after reaching performance goals in previous seasons.

Moore's salary plus supplemental compensation was $785,000 in 2020-21, but has risen to at least $985,000 for the current season due to hitting thresholds for automatic raises.

Already earned:

$150,000 raise (for reaching Final Four)

$150,000 bonus (for reaching Final Four)

$50,000 bonus (for finishing in Top 15 of AP or coaches poll following NCAA Tournament. NC State was ranked No. 11 in the poll before the tournament.)

Can still earn:

$150,000 raise (for winning national title)

$50,000 bonus (for reaching national title game)

$100,000 bonus (for winning national title)

Boo Corrigan

Corrigan signed a new contract in February that runs through June 30, 2029. He is paid $1.413 million annually in salary and supplemental compensation with annual raises of $100,000 beginning July 1.

Already earned:

$25,000 bonus (for men's basketball team playing in ACC Tournament final)

$25,000 bonus (for women's basketball team playing in ACC Tournament final)

Can still earn:

$50,000 bonus (for any NC State sports team winning a national championship in a contract year)
