North Carolina won its first outright ACC regular-season title since 2017 and earned the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament with its victory over Duke on Saturday night.
UNC (25-6, 17-3 in the ACC) finished two games clear of the field. The Blue Devils (24-7, 15-5) are the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament, which begins Tuesday at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
It is the 71st ACC Tournament and the third in D.C. UNC won the tournament crown in 2016, the last time it was played in Washington.
Virginia (22-9, 13-7) earned the No. 3 seed, and surging Pittsburgh (21-10, 12-8), which has won nine of its last 11 games, earned the No. 4 seed and a double bye in the tournament for the first time.
NC State (17-14, 9-11) is the 10th seed and opens against No. 15 seed Louisville on Tuesday.
The championship game is Saturday night.
Duke has won 22 ACC Tournament titles, the latest coming last season in Greensboro. UNC has won 18 championships, but is seeking its first title since 2016. NC State has won 10 tournaments, but none since 1987.
No other ACC school has won more than four titles (Wake Forest, Georgia Tech).
Five current members have never won an ACC Tournament title: Clemson (member since 1953), Boston College (2005), Syracuse (2013), Pittsburgh (2013) and Louisville (2014).
