Cary's Claire Curzan brings home bronze in mixed 4x100m freestyle relay at the World Championships

Cary native Claire Curzan has helped the USA secure a bronze medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay at the FINA World Championships in Budapest.
This is Curzan's 4th medal in the World championship following 2 other bronze in the 100-meter backstroke on Tuesday and the 4x100 freestyle relay on last Saturday. She also won a gold medal for the USA on Tuesday's mixed 4x100-meter medley relay.
The United States is currently leading in the competition with 37 total medals.
North Carolina State University alum Ryan Held also competed in this race that netted the US a bronze medal.
Curzan and Held are both Olympic athletes with Curzan winning silver in the 4×100 meter medley relay at the 2020 Summer Olympics and Held winning a gold in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Last Saturday, Curzan was named the Female Athlete of the Year at HighSchoolOT Honors after graduating from Cardinal Gibbons.
Curzan has committed to competing for Stanford University starting this fall.
