Hurricanes sign defenseman van Riemsdyk to 2-year deal

Raleigh, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk to a two-year contract.
The team announced the deal Thursday afternoon. It will pay van Riemsdyk $2.1 million in 2018-19 and $2.5 million in 2019-20.
"Trevor was a steady presence on our blue line last season,” team President and General Manager Don Waddell said in a statement. “He’s shown progression each year of his NHL career, and is a well-liked player in our locker room.”
In his fourth season, van Riemsdyk led the Hurricanes in plus/minus (+9) and ranked second among Carolina defesemen in blocked shots (113).
