Uncasville, Conn. — Eighteenth-ranked North Carolina dropped its second straight game with a 89-72 loss to No. 17 Tennessee in the consolation game of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.
Brady Manek led the Tar Heels (3-2) with 24 points. Armando Bacot added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Zakai Zeigler scored 18 points off the bench to lead four Tennessee players in double figures.
The Volunteers (3-1) shot 54 percent from the field.
UNC suffered its first loss under new head coach Hubert Davis on Saturday, a 93-84 defeat to Purdue.
North Carolina returns home on Tuesday to face UNC-Asheville at 7 p.m.
