13 NC volleyball players make AVCA's All-American list

Three players made the first team, two more made the second team, another two made third team, and the other six were honorable mention.

Thirteen players from across the state were honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association as All-Americans from this past year.

Three players made the first team, two more made the second team, another two made third team, and the other six were honorable mention.

The AVCA website states that its "requirements for nomination were that the student-athlete be in her senior year of high school, that the athlete had played in at least 50% of her team’s sets, and  that she be nominated by her AVCA member high school head coach on both the AVCA website as well as via a MaxPreps stats submission."

Below are the NC players who made the list:

First Team: Chapel Hill's Laynie Smith, Middle Creek's Sally Perez, Green Level's Asia Thigpen.

Second Team: Ardrey Kell's Camryn Shelton, Middle Creek's Avery Scoggins.

Third Team: Ardrey Kell's Victoria Kasanganay, Middle Creek's Josie Zynczak.

Honorable Mention: Chapel Hill's Lexi Smollen, Cox Mill's Arielle Walker, McMichael's Kacey Gore, Kings Mountain's Myracle Davis and Mary Grace Hogue, Palisades' Charlie Meadoweal.
