Derrin Little named next football coach at Chatham Central

Little, 25, is a graduate of Gray's Creek High School in Cumberland County. Despite his age, he's already put in six years of coaching, including at the high school and collegiate level.

Chatham Central High School has hired its next head football coach.

Derrin Little was approved by the Chatham County Schools Board of Education as the school's next head football coach, he posted on Twitter.

Little, 25, is a graduate of Gray's Creek High School in Cumberland County. Despite his age, he's already put in six years of coaching, including at the high school and collegiate level.

This past semester, Little helped with quarterbacks and recruiting at Greensboro College.

At the high school level, Little has spent time at Carver High School and Person High School where he has worked on the offensive side of the ball as a coordinator, wide receivers coach, and quarterbacks coach.

Little played college football at Greensboro College for Greg Crum and Clayton Hall.

Chatham Central will open the 2023 season on Friday, Aug. 18, at 7:30 p.m. with a road game at South Stokes. The Bears are coming off a 2-10 season in 2022.

Sherman Howze resigned as the head football coach at Chatham Central in June after spending seven seasons in Bear Creek.
