Young talent featured on All-East Girls Cross Country Team

This year's team had four state champions and 14 of the 21 finished in the top five of their respective state championship meet.

HighSchoolOT.com is announcing its first All-East team in girls cross country.

The team takes 21 players total -- the same as three times a normal seven-runner lineup. Fifteen of the 21 were selected by their championship times, and the other six were selected based on finish.

This year's team, listed in alphabetical order below, had four state champions and 14 of the 21 finished in the top five of their respective state championship meet. All runners are listed with the times they posted at their respective state championship meet.

Carmen Alder, Pinecrest (sophomore): Won the NCHSAA 4A state championship by more than 12 seconds (17:50.64).

Paxton Chitty, Ashley (sophomore): Was eighth in the NCHSAA 4A state championships (18:58.27).

Lilly Crook, Chapel Hill (senior): Was 13th in NCHSAA 3A state championships (19:17.23).

Emmaline Daggett, N.C. School of Science and Math (senior): Was fifth in NCHSAA 2A state championships (19:24.80).

Isabelle Grimm, Corinth Holders (freshman): Was 15th in 4A state championships (19:16.38).

Allison Hall, Durham Academy (7th grade): Won the NCISAA 4A state championship (20:14.70).

Molly Kuzma, The O'Neal School (sophomore): Won the NCISAA 2A state championship (20:47.06).

Jordan Landis, Riverside High -- Durham (junior): Was 14th in the NCHSAA 4A state championships (19:15.93).

Amelia Maughan, Chapel Hill (freshman): Was 10th in the NCHSAA 3A state championships (19:00.84).

Sarah Mitchell, Grace Christian of Raleigh (freshman): Was the runner-up in the NCISAA 3A state championships (20:38.36).

Maggie McCormick, Harnett Central (junior): Was the runner-up in the NCHSAA 3A state championships (18:17.42).

Caroline Mullahy, Cardinal Gibbons (sophomore): Was seventh in the NCHSAA 4A state championships (18:48.74).

Hannah Preisser, Carrboro (freshman): Won the NCHSAA 2A state championships (18:59.54).

Katharine Priu, Cardinal Gibbons (senior): Was third in the NCHSAA 4A state championships (18:05.70).

Jenna Reiter, West Carteret (junior): Was fifth in the NCHSAA 3A state championships (18:47.58).

Amy Rosie Scott-Benson, Voyager Academy (junior): Was runner-up in the NCHSAA 1A state championships (19:50.41).

Shannon Sefton, Panther Creek (senior): Was fifth in the NCHSAA state championships 4A (18:45.51).

Stella Stringer, Durham Academy (freshman): Was runner-up in the NCISAA 4A state championships (20:30.30).

Caroline Todd, Cardinal Gibbons (senior): Was sixth in the NCHSAA 4A state championships (18:48.39).

Natalie Tyner, Laney (senior): Was runner-up in the NCHSAA 4A state championships (18:02.68).

Hayley Whoolery, West Johnston (junior): Was fourth in the NCHSAA 3A state championships (18:20.49).
