Durham, N.C. — One of the most anticipated college basketball games of all time is approaching on Saturday. Not only is Duke University taking on their biggest rival, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, it's also the last home game for Duke's Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Some of the fans most excited for the game are students camping out in Krzyzewskiville on Friday night. Many of the students camping said they haven't been able to sleep because of the excitement — not only because of the game's importance but because it was a game they couldn't miss.
Hundreds of students camp out every year at K-Ville for the best seat and in hopes of seeing Duke beat out crosstown rival UNC.
"Let me tell you, [Thursday night] was a tough night ... very cold and windy. My back hurts," said Aaron Levl, a Duke graduate student.
Levl said despite being cold and windy, it was very much worth it. He's been camping with three other friends since Thursday morning.
"We don't know where exactly [our seats will be] but probably the first two or three rows in the graduate student section ... they're going to pack us like sardines so it's important to be up there," said Judd Chamaa, a Duke graduate student.
Levl and Chamaa are third year law students. Levl and Chamaa are 3rd year law students. Their tent group has been taking turns going home to shower or study.
The two graduate students said it's a unique experience to be a part of.
"When I came to Duke, when I found out [K-Ville] existed, I was thrilled. It's such a fun set of days where everyone comes together, celebrates, has fun and gets ready for something that I don't think exists anywhere else, which is the excitement of Duke basketball," said Levl.
It’s the end of an era but the start of a new chapter that many said they are looking forward to.
"Right now, it's called K-Ville to honor the legendary Coach K, but we're all excited about Coach Scheyer and maybe he'll have his out Schey Town," said Levl.
