    Continuted:
It wasn't just Bonzie, Notre Dame just looked out of sorts, missing so many open shots. Farrell had a bad game, and Fleuger hasn't looked right for a while - I think he's injured. Unless they turn things around today, VT will run them out of the Barclay Center. Hope not, because I'd like to see ND make it to the Tourney. They delt with so many injuries this season.

Max - you weren't impressed with Syracuse? I know they were playing Wake Forest, and Wake looked awful, but I thought Syracuse looked good. Too good. I'm nervous about that game. It's tough to beat a team twice, especially when the games are played so close together.

I was impressed with Buzz Williams yesterday. The sideline reporter interviewed him during the game. It was the first time I saw him sans sweat! Anyway, he had a pad and a bunch of colored pencils. He was taking a lot of notes. He's a very thoughtful, intelligent man. VT is lucky to have him. Dan Dakitch did a terrible job calling the game. He was very critical of Pitt - from coaching, to their abysmal record, etc. When ESPN went back to the studio, Seth Greenberg commented that you should't talk about firing a coach in the middle of the game.

I thought Notre Dame looked awful. I had a hard time picking them over VT, and if I had seen the way they played before making my picks, I wouldn't have picked them.

    Tomorrow's game
1-FSU vs Louisville-- FSU-------------------FSU will wants it more
    2-NC State vs BC----NC State--------------Pack is on a roll

4-Syracuse vs UNC------------UNC--------- Syracuse not impressive

Bonzi may be a little rusty, after Syracuse/ Wake I will make my picks for tomorrow-watched that video about Buzz Williams telling his players about the anthem, I was inspiring, he brought in Veterans from all ages, races, branches, had them lined up one player, then one Vet, showed the proper way to do it, they will be my sentimental darkhorse pick, overall got to pick Pack

Tizu - I'd love to see State and Duke play again! Bonzi may go off on Duke, but State always seems give them a good fight as well. I hope when they go to 20 conference games next year that State and Duke get a home and home series. And please let them play every year in football.

I mostly agree with Gunny's picks, with a couple of changes.

I'll take Wake over Cuse today.
The Potential Duke / ND game has me worried. Bonzie always seems to GO OFF on Duke...that's a tough one, but I'll take Duke.

I'm not sure Duke wins the Championship...and not convinced UVA will make it there, either. I think UNC has a great chance to win it this year.

I personally would like a Duke / State matchup. I hate that they only played once this year.

ACC Tournament Champions is a toss up between UNC / Duke in my opinion.

    TODAY's Picks:
    BC over GT
    Syracuse over Wake
    ND over Pitt

    WEDNESDAY Picks:
L'Ville over FSU (FSU has been dreadful on the road)
    State over BC
Carolina beats Syracuse (but it won't be easy to beat them twice) ND over VT (not sure at all, but have to pick one)

THURSDAY Picks: Virginia over L'ville State over Clemson Heels beat Miami in revenge game Duke ends the Irish's run

FRIDAY's Games Virginia beats State Duke downs UNC

CHAMPIONSHIP: Devils get revenge over the Cavaliers and wins the ACCT

I usually do worse in the ACCT than the NCAAT for some reason. I can very realistically see Miami beating Carolina on Thursday, and I can also see State beating Virginia to face Duke again. Would love to see that game. For some reason, even "bad" State teams give Duke all they can handle. I remember a classic a few years ago, with the final score in the 90's, with Duke squeaking out the win. Think Cat Barber was on that team. Best game of the Tourney that year.

yea, the committee is what really matters-Lunardi, Palm and the others I think they to create matchups, bill themselver as experts but are just trying create conversation. MY PICKS FOR TUESDAY:gonna pick BC, it will be close but I think BC will be more comfortable in New York--Syracuse and Wake will also be a close on-I think Wake will have enough to pull it out----
Notre Dame with Colson back will probably be too much for Pitt to handle-probably one sided
    my pick BC-Wake-ND

Lunardi doesn't do the seeding, so no worries where he puts teams. Some of these national pundits have no idea about our local teams: in fact, i sometimes wonder about our local radio "experts" as well. The teams will do thgeir talking on the court. Let the games begin!

  • Maxwell Silver III Mar 5, 2018

Lunardi is a tool, he refuses to move Pack off the 9 line after they won 5 out of 6, yea I watched all the games, the VT game hurt the Pack, I didn't think that one mattered but I wrong -all the other games went the Packs way, went to the Louisville game, didn't they that well but got a couple of runs that helped pull it out. I think the ACC tour is gonna be a good one this year, think there is half dozen team that could pull it out, State, Duke, UNC, Miami, Clemson,VT and of course UVA, FSU and Louisville I don't think can win 4 straight games, the bottom 6 winning 5 in row is hard but 5 straight days against ACC competition -will give my picks -Gunn, Tizu give me your tomorrow.

I watched all seven of the ACC games Saturday - it was great, although I'm not happy (but not surprised) with the outcome of the Carolina/Duke game. But there were some games that went down to the wire, and those were fun to watch, with a lot on the line for some teams. Was hoping ND would beat Virginia, and they do look like a completely different team with Bonzy back in the lineup. Lunardi said he thinks ND will make the Tourney; guess it depends on their showing this week. Good luck to all teams, and I hope it's a great Tourney. Going to New York isn't in my budget either, not by a long shot.

its all said and done-tournament starts tues, I will watch this year on the tube, I just not gonna spend the kind of cash it takes to take in the tournament in NY, hotels are outrageous, then transportion, food and ticket, it would take close to $3000.00 to fly up and back and others added in, could take that money buy a nice 70+ size TV and enjoy it on there, may go to one of the regionals instead.

I think State has a better chance of getting the double bye than Carolina. I don't see Carolina beating Duke today, and the Clemson Syracuse game is a tough one to pick, although I see the Tigers winning. Crazy logjam. Today has so many good games, it's almost as good as the ACCT - kind of like the appetizer for the feast of ACC basketball this week. Today is basically wall to wall basketball!

3 things have to happen 1-we have win or we get 8th 2-Clemson has to lose or 5th or 6th is the best we can do 3-Duke has to beat UNC and if the other 2 happen we can get 4th - Syracuse is the favorite 1.5 points and they are at home. We are at home and are favored by 2 points. Duke is favored by 7 and we be home for Senior day. I am gonna buckle up watch BB all day long -as a bonus Pack women are playing Louisville in the semi's in ACC tour.

Well, Max, it looks to be quite the logjam after last night's State/GT game. Can't believe Virginia needed a last minute shot to beat L'Ville!!! There is a lot of parity in the ACC this year. There's Virginia at the very top, and Pitt at the very bottom, but other than those two schools, anyone can beat anyone. Look at Duke and Carolina and their ACC record - a lot of losses. The ACCT might be a wild ride.

after tonights game I am going over my sheets my sheet, it will still be a lot to be decided with one game to go, I have seen in past years where maybe a couple of spots might move around, as many as 7 teams positions could be moved around a lot some even 5 or 6 spots, only teams 1st place and last place solidified their spots, Virginia and Pitt.

GT could be a trap game, and they may hang around for a while, but I think State takes care of business. I don't like their coach either, and he's currently in a legal battle with a woman regarding sexual harrassment/assault.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 28, 2018

the GT game concerns me because I am afraid that GT may have one of those night where everything goes right for them, they have nothing to lose, not a big fan of their coach, he seems kind of shady to me. I was ready to concede it to Bennett but I think you have give strong support for Keatts especially if he finishes in the top 3-I think Virginia is a team built to win a lot of games but I don't think they can win it all-either ACC or NCAA esp ACC 3 straight games will take its toll.

  • StunGunn Feb 27, 2018
    Sports Legend

Yeah Max - after having such a great season, the injuries are catching up with Clemson. It would be great if the Triangle schools all get the double bye. Keatts deserves ACC COY IMHO. Sure, Bennett is a solid coach who's done a great job, but Keatts walked into a program in disarray and coached them into a NCAA tourney team, with a good chance to be in the top 4 in the ACC. That's quite an accomplishment.

if unc wins tonight then whoever wins Saturday they got 2nd, if state wins out they got 3rd then the loser of Duke /unc game will be 4th, if State loses thurs or UNC lose tonight then it will a mess to figure out who is where, Duke will finish in the top 4 anyhow -there could be 4-5or 6 teams with 7 losses, UNC wins tonight and State wins out then the triangle will have 2-3-4 -I thought Duke would win last night so who knows, if UNC wins tonight then they clinch a double bye, State must win out or hope Miami loses tonight and Miami beat Va Tech sat giving both 8 losses-Clemson could finish 5th if they don't slip up.

  • StunGunn Feb 27, 2018

I thought State would be ranked this week after beating FSU by 20. Strange. I get that their early out of conference schedule was not strong, but they've beaten Duke, Carolina, Clemson, FSU, all ranked teams.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 26, 2018
    Bench Warmer

I went on a spread sheet and calculated who wins the last 2 this week-if goes according to form
    it should be
1-UVa--2- Duke--3-NCSU-- 4-UNC-- 5-Clemson-- 6th FSU-- 7-Va Tech 8th--Miami--9th Louisville-- 10-ND---11-Syracuse-12- BC---13-Wake ---14-- GT---15-- Pitt--but I guarantee something will happen to change this-actually State could finish 2nd or 9th depending how things fall-this is first time I have seen so much movement could be made in the last week of play. I will not normally watch all ACC games during the week esp. outside of the big 4, this week I will keep an eye on games-last place is settled 1st place is settled but in between there is a lot of movement that could be made.

  • StunGunn Feb 26, 2018

Wow Max - you must have been a math major! Thanks for the explanation. Very complicated metrics. I'd be happy with Carolina going 1-1. I don't see them winning at Cameron, but they sure better beat Miami. They've had a long break, and that is concerning, as they always seem to look sluggish after time off. Duke may have their hands full at VT tonight.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 25, 2018
    Bench Warmer

after head to head which unc and state tied you go highest ranked team both lost to Virginia so next is Duke, the pack beat duke and unc beat duke, if unc loses to Duke then states get the tiebreaker by not having lost to duke, but that is just one part of it, state must win out, if UNC beats Duke then they could move ahead of Duke in the Standing, Va tech holds the ace card in all tiebreakers having beat Virginia-Wolfpacks main thing is to win out and they be guaranteed no worse than 4th having the tiebreaker against Clemson-if Duke beats UNC, State could be tied with Clemson and UNC and get 3rd by their win over Duke without a loss to Duke, UNC and Clemson have lost to Duke that being said there is a lot of water still going under the bridge, we will have to wait it out, UNC losing to Miam and Duke could throw a lot of wrinkles into everything, I think the only thing for sure is BC, Pitt and Wake will play on tuesday, this is the first so much has been at stake with a week to go

  • StunGunn Feb 25, 2018
    Sports Legend

That's what I don't understand, Max. If Carolina loses to Duke, they're 1-1, and beat Duke once. State is 1-0 and beat them once. So going 1-0 trumps 1-1, even though bogth State and Carolina beat Duke once? It's more complicated because State and Carolina split. I'm glad I'm not the one figuring all this out! VT lost yesterday, so I guess that helps State's chance to get a double bye. Clemson managed to squeak out a win against GT. GT was winning most of the game. Selection Sunday is two weeks away!

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 24, 2018
    Bench Warmer

I think they had a miss step-If Duke beats UNC- State wins the tiebreaker-they would 1-0 and UNC 1-1 -there are alot of scenarios yet to be played out-right State is 4th, state wins tiebreakers with Clemson but lose it with VT and Miami-still have to play FSU and Louisville-if things fall right they could finish 3rd- if not 8th, there is also an out side scenario that could get 2nd but a lot of thing would have to fall right

  • StunGunn Feb 23, 2018
    Sports Legend

There is a logjam in the ACC standings, that's for sure. Carolina has to play Miami and Duke. I'll be happy if they go 1 and 1. Miami is a must win game if they want a double bye. One of the afternoon boys said if State and UNC tie, State wins the tie breaker because they beat Duke. Well, so did Carolina, so I don't know how that would work out. Guess we'll have to wait and see. There will be a lot of complicated computations going on to figure out the seeding for the ACCT.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 22, 2018
    Bench Warmer

potential ACC tour. pairing all over the place-if state wins out and Duke beats VT and UNC they could finish 3rd if Duke loses to VT and UNC Pack could finish 4th, their are all kinds of scenarios that could end up, State loses that could finish as low 8th or 9th, I think State has their destiny in their own hands, do not think will lose to both VT and UNC, with a little luck Duke could still tie UVA for 1st but very unlikely-UNC could finish 2nd with a little luck or 5th or 6th, less than 10 days to last reg season day and less than 2 till ACC tournament-Pitt Wake and GT can pack up for a tuesday game-who knows about the rest.

I thought Robinson & Co would have a better showing as well. Maybe they tried too hard. The ACCT is hard to predict. State usually does well in the tourney. Well, at least you know they won't be playing on Tuesday!! Duke won last year, and they had to play four games in four days to do it. I didn't think they'd pull it off. Hard to say this year. Virginia is a tough out (who saw VT beating them - not me!) I've always liked the ACCT - great way to end the regular season, but this season went by too fast.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 21, 2018

watched game last night -I think Robinson was pressing a little trying to impress the home town, if he had went off 30 point I think BC could have won the game, Pack started out ice cold, then got hot and closed out half shooting at a torrid clip. Second half they were brillant at times and ragged at times. They could go to Brooklyn and win the whole dan thing or get knocked out first round.

on another forum, they were how they to see DSJ on this team, I would not trade Markell Johnson for DSJ on this team, Johnson is not as flashy but is more of a complete point guard,
he can shoot , great passer and a dam good defender also an outstanding floor leader, this kid will just keep getting better. Think this will get better and better, I think there is 50% or better chance this team can win out, a loss by Clemson or UNC and they could sneak into a double but a lot BB to be played, just nice to be discussed in this manner late into the season.

Agree with your assessment, Max. Abu is a surprise. He's a smart guy, and I'm not sure why he hasn't returned to the calibre of player he was, as he's got the talent and smarts. State is talented and tough. I thought they'd be ranked this week. Who cares what the "experts" think.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 18, 2018
    Bench Warmer

the Keatts hire according "media experts" (self appointed experts) was not impressive, was not a home run hire-it may not have been but slowly he is rounding first and it could end up being an inside the park HR! if he ends up winning 10+ conference games and 20+ games, I would say he has hit out of the ball park in his first year but its not over yet-moreover he has impressed me with the way he came in and won over some players, went out and got some important pieces, late recruiting to get Batts and Beverly and convince A. Freeman and Sam Hunt to transfer-all 4 have contributed value to this team, Yurtseven vast improvement Torin Dorn has played great this year-glad's he is back next year, probably the most valuable from last years team is Johnson, has turned into one the better point guards in the conference- only disappointments Abu. L Freeman has not played much but when he has he contributes.

  • StunGunn Feb 17, 2018

Max - I remember hearing Keatts name being brought up during the coaching search. I think people were impressed with what he accomplished at UNC-W. Miller may have been a sentimental favorite, but when you see how Keatts has been able to unite the team and buy into his game plan and coaching style, I'm not sure Miller would have been able to do any better. He's not intimidated by K or Roy; he just goes about the business of coaching his team. It sure looks like State made the right decision.

  • Maxwell Silver III Feb 16, 2018

I remember last year, when the pack was in the process of hiring a coach, Marshall and Miller were suppose to top of the list, then there the coach at VCU and Butler, Keatts for most was an afterthought, talking with some people in the know, Keatts was the priority but were looking at others, Marshall's price eliminated him, Miller was hesitant, a lot liked Holtmann but , some liked Wade but Keatts was a favorite, somebody knew something, this guy has come in and not missed a beat-that being he may flop but I do not seeing it happening, I believe he is in for the long haul, there will be times where the fringe ( all teams have a fringe element) will voice displeasure but the sane will keep in check, I will strongly support him the rest of the year and on.

  • StunGunn Feb 16, 2018

Max - not only would Gott have lost that game against the Orange, Gott lost his locker room It was clear the players had checked out last year. Gott played favorites, and that didn't bode well for team chemistry. Look at the amount of transfers under Gott, and Abu and Yurtsaven were thinking of leaving, but stayed for Keats. Keats may be in the honeymoon stage with State, but I bet it's going to be a long and successful marriage between Keats and State. He seems like a really good guy on top of being a good coach.
