What is the role of the High School Coach in recruiting?

    Just curious, whats your role here padre? You had a few more replies in the other forum. Seems like this post was more appropriately located but only one reply. Whats your opinion?

    From what I have been told, the coach plays a small part in the recruiting process. I mean they can send dvds out to five different schools of the players choice. And give good feedback if recruiters ask them or there opinions.(atitude, grades, and behavior those type things. I know for a fact going to college camps is where players are recruited the most.

    I am looking for opinions on which school/or coach does the best job helping their players move on to the next level. It goes without saying that ability, grades and conduct have a lot to do with it. I am looking for opinions on the role of the coach. Some people are of the opinion that it is all on the player or the college and the coach has no role. Do you feel the coach should actively assist with the recruitment of their players or play a passive role? Some schools have a large amount of athletes move to the next level and others do not, yet the talent levels are similar.
