Basketball Polls

HighSchoolOT's end-of-regular season boys basketball rankings have been released. There is a statewide top 25 and top 15s for each of North Carolina's six area codes. These will be the last rankings until after the N.C. High School Athletic Association crowns its state champions.

The Green Level Gators have risen to No. 9 in the state after concluding the regular season with a 24-0 overall record. Green Level has found ways to win even on its off nights. The Gators have won eight games by a single digit margin. The Gators made it through a high RPI SWAC Conference unscathed.

Also of note in the statewide rankings: Lake Norman slid from No. 10 to No. 18 after a last-second loss to crosstown rival Mooresville.

17 of the top 25 teams come from just half of the state's area codes: the 336, 704, and 910.

There have been some notable changes in the area codes, many of which are due to losses by some N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association teams as those playoffs continue.

Here are a few things about how our rankings work in boys' basketball:

  • Rankings are updated weekly and released on Monday
  • All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
  • There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
  • Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
  • Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
